Center For Discovery has been providing residential and outpatient treatment for adults and teens for over 20 years. At Center For Discovery, we provide treatment for men and women with eating disorders, teens with eating disorders, teens with mental health disorders, and teens with substance abuse issues. eeping each location specialized to one of our treatment programs, we are able to provide the most effective and efficient treatment. All of our locations provide treatment for only a small number of residents at one time to maintain an intimate setting and a high staff to resident ratio. Treatment within a residential neighborhood or outpatient facilities allows our clients to feel more comfortable in a familiar surrounding and provides greater transferability and internalization of the treatment experience to life after treatment. We place a high priority on providing an environment where our clients feel like and are treated like people, never patients.

For those struggling with an eating disorder, the idea of JOMO may seem overly optimistic and out of reach especially during the holidays. This season is accompanied not only by a number of traditions, but also a unique set of hurdles to overcome. Many of our patients report feeling like they have no control of what they are eating, feeling overwhelmed by all of the options and feeling exhausted by the social hype and pressure to be happy.

This year, let’s change the narrative. Before committing to plans, evaluate whether or not they are working for you. Are you participating because you feel like you “have to” or because you “want to”? While it may be difficult to opt out of activities and put your recovery first, it is important that you honor yourself and your needs. Do what brings you joy – whatever that looks like for you. After all, it’s your holiday, too.

While the holiday season is known as a time to express gratitude and connect with loved ones, for those in eating disorder recovery, it can feel anything but “wonderful”. From festive gatherings and food-centric traditions to social pressures, it’s both stressful and exhausting.

If you're feeling apprehensive about upcoming events, we’ve got you covered. We have compiled a list of eating disorder support tips so that you feel empowered and in control to prioritize your recovery this holiday season.

☑️ Know your limits and where you are spending your energy.

On Veterans Day, we find no coincidence that this observance falls in a month known for expressing gratitude and giving thanks. As we show our appreciation for veterans, we also want those who struggle with an eating disorder to know that they are supported and help is available.

With our Stars & Stripes Program, Center for Discovery offers veteran-specific eating disorder treatment using evidence-based and trauma-focused therapies that include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and exposure & response prevention (ERP) therapy. Our approach is tailored to help veterans not only overcome an eating disorder, but also gain the real-life coping skills they need to reintegrate into their community.

At Center for Discovery, it is our honor to serve those who served. And while we can never fully repay their sacrifice, we can pledge to provide every veteran with competent, compassionate and responsive care.

To all our veterans, thank you for your service. Now, it’s our turn to serve you.

Are you feeling anxious about the election? You are not alone.

According to the American Psychological Association, 7 out of 10 Americans are so significantly affected by the upcoming election that it interferes with their daily lives -- reducing performance at school and work, decreasing quality sleep, and damaging relationships with family and friends who are on opposing sides.

Constant media coverage can overwhelm us with statistics and opinions that add to the anxiety we feel over the future of our country.

At Center for Discovery, we understand the need for support in eating disorder recovery especially during times of great distress. That’s why we want to remind you that we offer
FREE online eating disorder support groups for alumni, family members, BIPOC, those diagnosed with BED and more.

It is important to us that you receive the care that you need to manage triggers and prioritize your recovery with confidence. As always, we are here for you.

At Center for Discovery, we believe healing, growth and a positive relationship with food is possible. That’s why we have made it the cornerstone of our dietary program.

We take a real-life approach to eating disorder recovery and handle it with CARE – a model that stands for “consistent attuned relational eating.” This means you have the steadiness of a dietary plan that is adaptable to what’s happening in your life.

Here’s what the CARE-CFD Model embraces:
✔️ Trauma-focused nutrition therapy
✔️ Collaboration between you and the care team
✔️ Responsive to the whole body, including being in tune with the nervous system
✔️ Weight inclusivity
