I am heading on a Carnival Cruise this spring break. They are one of many cruise lines I book for guests and I haven’t had a chance to explore their newer ships yet, so this will be my opportunity.

One of my favorite things when staying at a Magic Kingdom area resort is the Electrical Water Pageant. It is so classic Disney. I get excited like I am 5 years okd every time I hear the music start!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has the most amazing Christmas decorations and at night they really shine! Seeing this park at the holidays is a must do!

I went to Walt Disney World with my daughter last week and really enjoyed staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. I hadn’t stayed there for a few years and loved our room and also having the opportunity to tour the new tower that opened while we were there!

The studio rooms are fabulous for families that need to sleep 5 or like a split bathroom. Joanna and I really enjoyed having so much space to get ready in the mornings.

Travel Tuesday-

During high season, flight delays and cancellations are more common. Do you have a plan in place before you leave to help prepare in case this happens? Her are some of the strategies I use:

1) I have a change of clothes and swimsuit in my carry on.
2) All medications are in my carry on.
3) I have my flight confirmation and the airline phone number or web site ready to help in case I need assistance as often there are long lines at the airport service desks.
4) I leave an extra day on the arrival side of all cruises.
5) I pack snacks and a drink in case I am stuck in an airport after hours or sitting on the tarmac for a long time waiting to take off.
6) I pack my patience! I also have headphones and podcasts downloaded and a good book to help pass the time.
7) Have an extra phone charger or external battery ready so you don’t run out of cell phone charge!

These are just a few tips. Do you have anything that you do to help deal with the unexpected while traveling?

Travel Tuesday-

A few weeks ago we talked about packing cubes and how handy they are. This week, I wanted to share another one of my favorite travel accessories… portable luggage scales. I take these every time I fly so that I know my luggage is not over the alloted weight prior to arriving at the airport. Those souvenirs can really add weight to your bags!
This inexpensive little tool can save you lots of time and frustration - as well as money not being spent on penalties for excess bag weight.

I travel often and one way I maximize my luggage space and unpack quickly, while staying organized, is by using packing cubes.

I love arriving at my destination and tossing my cubes in the drawers and stowing my suitcase as everything is already organized!

Each person has different techniques for using packing cubes. Some roll vs. folding their clothes. Some people organize the cubes by outfit, others use one bag for tops and another for bottoms. Any way you choose, these help you stay organized!

Another perk is that once worn, I throw my dirty clothes in a separate cube, which keeps the laundry sorted and the clean clothes clean!

Anyone who travels often likely has had concerns or experienced missing or lost luggage. This is where technology can be helpful!

There are various types of small trackers that use Bluetooth networks to connect to your phone and let you know where your bags are. Some popular brands are Apple AirTag, Tile, Samsung Galaxy SmartTag. There are products that use GPS technology as well and are likely more reliable in real time, but the investment is more substantial.

Last year, while in Barcelona, I decided to send my luggage with a baggage service to our cruise ship while we toured the city before boarding the ship. I was a bit nervous about making sure our bags got on the ship as I didn’t want to spend a week wearing the same outfit. My mind was completely at ease because I followed by bags via my AirTag and saw they were on our ship before we were. This is just one situation where slipping one of these devices in your bag can be very helpful!
