Did you know that Rome has its own vulcano? No? Let me tell you about it 😎 In this image you see the Vulcano Laziale where the Castelli Romani area of Rome is located. Just south east of the city. This is a dormant volcano where, since ancient times, Romans produced wine (and still do!). There are various craters there, now filled with water forming lovely little lakes flanked by beautiful villages such as Nemi and Castel Gandolfo. The volcanic zone is dormant but still produced tremors often. The last actual eruption was about 5000 years ago. Gasses still erupt from fissures in this area but no major eruption is expected anytime soon 🤞🏽 The geology of the terroir here is perfect for growing grapes though, so join us for a visit and a sip! A dedicated train leaves every 2 hours from Roma Termini direct to Frascati (a 25 minute ride) where we can visit the villas and the vineyards all in one day. Contact me and let’s explore!

Visiting local farmers’ markets for in-season ingredients is key in Italy! We have one such market in our own, super real Roman neighborhood of Monteverde. This is where we personally shop for produce, meat and fish to then walk back home to cook. We have a special culinary tour lasting about 4 hours now, during which time we will meet at our market, shop for ingredients, walk back to our little penthouse and then cook together a lovely lunch (with wine of course!). The tree should be on its last few days in display now… I had a chance to see it in the Vatican a few nights ago. Very pretty sight 🥰 This is the year of the Jubilee 2025, so be prepared for lots of pilgrims and extra people visiting Rome! Stil well worth a trip 😎 Join us for our food and wine tours!

The beautiful main Christmas Tree in Rome in Piazza Venezia will sadly not be here this holiday season, and won’t for another 10 years at least! Rome is building an immense Metro system in this spot which is a huge fit of engineering that takes lots of time… they are digging 80 meters down into the ground! Immagine all of the incredible archaeological finds they are running into and having to excavate and remove! 😳 BUT, don’t fret. Lots of other beautiful trees all around the city for us to enjoy this holiday season 🥰 trees is Piazza Di Spagna, Piazza Del Popolo, the Vatican, Fendi store, and more. What if your plan for your New Year’s Eve celebration this year? 😍 I love to either chill at home and watch the fireworks from my balcony OR to have a lovely pre-fix dinner + midnight fireworks show! > swipe > Early 1900s “projects” built to force-relocate many Roman residents from their ancestral homes in the center, to the outer hills of Rome, when Mussolini and his people decided to build the wide parade routes for his military demonstrations and marches. One such parade route is the Via Della Conciliazione that leads from the castle to the Vatican’s St Peter’s. That entire wide road as it is now, was filled with people’s homes, which were demolished to make space. These big huge massive “projects” are everywhere in Rome. One of them is this one, around the corner from my apartment in Monteverde Nuove neighborhood. I find the architecture fascinating 🇮🇹

Fall is chestnut season (castagne in Italian). I absolutely love them! Going out into the forest to find them in the wild is even more satisfying 🥰 Today we made chestnut, chickpeas, mushroom soup and it was delicious!

Sunny and hot November 2nd in Rome 🌞 People swimming in the sea and everyone in shorts and dresses. Crazy weather 🇮🇹 Lunch today was all about Italy’s delicious seafood. Freshly caught and made to order. Seafood salad, fried calamari, grilled octopus, scampi risotto ♥️

Chestnut season is upon us! Yesterday in Melezzole, Umbria, we visited the Sagra Delle Castagne (chestnut festival) and it was fun! Delicious food stands, a beautiful autumn day in the hills of Umbria, and we even made new friends 🥰 Lots of these lovely food festivals in the villages of Italy, especially during various seasonal harvests. All worth visiting for sure!
