🤙🏽 Do you know the origins of the Shaka? It all dates back to the early 1900s...
It's said that Hamana Kalili had an accident while working at Kahuku Sugar Mill which resulted in him losing three fingers on his right hand.
After the accident, he was offered a new job as the security officer for the train that used to run between Sunset Beach and Kaaawa. Part of his job was to prevent kids from jumping on the train and taking joyrides as it slowly approached and departed Kahuku Station.
He started using his unique wave to keep kolohe (mischievous) kids from hopping on board.
