I love a food walking tour on my trips abroad! The apple pie is a breakfast treat. This is half of a serving. Amsterdam is known for herring. I tried it, gagged and don’t see me eating herring again. We tasted cheese, a sausage roll, a beef Indonesian sandwich and Bitten Ballin-a traditional snack!

We visited the “Anne Frank Haus.” We started at the Jewish memorial. Stones are placed by visitors as we would place flowers at a grave. Anne’s brick is the brick that says “Annaliese.” The gold “tripping stones” are made by one man. The stones list the name of each person, when they taken, where they were sent, the date of death or liberation. The stones are raised a bit so when people walk they “trip” look down and read the stone. The stones are placed in front of the last residence the person was “free.” The Frank family stones are placed in front of their home, 3 miles from the annex, since their home is the last place they were free! Pictures were not allowed in the annex where the family hid. The series on “It’s a Small Light” shows how the family survived.

A news release just stated that it’s taking between 10-13 weeks for passports (15 weeks seems to be the norm.) Expedited is 7-9 weeks. They’re recommending new passport applicants to apply 6 months out from international travel.
Many of my vendors will no longer allow me to book international travel without a passport number and expiration date.
Make sure your passport expiration date meets the criteria for the country you plan to visit. Typically, this means your passport needs to be valid for 6 months from the date you will return home. Mexico is an exception as it needs to be valid for the duration of travel. In any case you are at the liberty of the airline to allow you to board.
