If you’re like many midwesterners, you hung up your bike last fall and you are just blowing off the dust as trails open. If you *did* bike over the last 5 months, odds are your winter bike habits looked a lot different than your summer habits. We’ve all done the “pre-ride, re-ride, free ride” on a new trail, and you can apply this same philosophy when approaching this new season.
As you hop back in the saddle again, you have Sure Shift’s permission to take it slow. You’re not the same person you were last year, and now is a great time to take personal inventory during a “pre-ride.”
⚙️ Body — How does your body feel? How is your body positioning? Are you moving about your cockpit smoothly? Are you getting out of the saddle or pasted to that seat? Are you feeling balanced in your feet?
⚙️ Breath — Are you breathing? Of course you are, but how are you breathing? Are you using your breath to add power to skill motions? Are you monitoring your breath as it relates to rate of perceived exertion?
⚙️ Brain — What thoughts are you having? Do the thoughts serve you or detract from the experience?
We all ride for different reasons. After your self-assessment you might arrive at the conclusion that you’re ready to rip it, or you might decide you’re in need of some fine tuning. Whatever your goals might be, we’d love to help if you’d like to tackle something new or differently.
Sure Shift guides and instructors are ready when you are for the 2025 season.
