Scenes from a food bank.

I am not able to officially photograph this food bank. I asked the hosting church for permission and offered to share all my photos with them for their own uses, but they never replied. This church has never accepted my help... These are all photographed in public space so no permissions or releases were required. Just good old-fashioned street photography like Cartier-Bresson.

This is our neighbor.

I believe that humans have dominion on the Earth - we are the prominent life-form according to an intelligent plan. I believe that humans are made in the image of God and are, therefore, meant to behave as he does. God is a benevolent father who ensures that even the tiniest lives are cared for. We, likewise, should care for the tiniest lives he entrusts to us.

A local woman shuffles along with her box of groceries from the local food bank. My wife volunteers at the food bank every Saturday morning and they have saved our lives many times over with their generous gifts to those of us in need.

People won't pose for me so I have trained this squirrel to be a model. I call him Peanut and he lives here in our apartment complex. I place little treats for him in a knot in a tree by our balcony. It took two months to finally get a photo of him, but here he is at last enjoying his very favorite treat: a walnut.

This photo was an old negative sitting in an envelope in the bottom of a box of old family photos. I scanned the negative, cleaned up the digital copy, and created this final version in Lightroom and Photoshop.

The photo is of my mother and me in 1972 or 1973 in front of our home in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, CA. It is my very favorite photo of us because you can see just how beautiful my mother was and my expression perfectly captures how I always felt and feel about my mother.

My mother passed away two years ago and today would have been her 65th birthday. I'm sharing this photo and the work I did in rescuing and restoring it in her honor.

In honor of my 45th birthday, I am releasing my first makeup video. I intend to produce a series of these showing basic tips and makeup techniques. This first video covers a basic method for doing eyebrows.

I want to thank all my friends who provided me input during the production of this video. I think the final product is the best it can be thanks to all of your help.

Returning to the fundamental concepts of the study. A pair of pumps is treated with a harsh light and partly silhouetted while also casting strong shadows and creating an overall deep contrast.

Marked departure from earlier studies of the pump. Heavy use of colored lighting, hard post-processing, and a generally unconventional framing that still seeks to adhere to a sense of good composition while also misdirecting the viewer with uncertainty as to what the subject actually is at first.
