1st timers sometimes feel overwhelmed not knowing what to expect or what terms mean.
Here's a few:
Starboard = right side
Port = left side
Aft/Stern = back of ship
Bow = front of ship
Ship....its a ship, not a boat๐คฃ๐คฃ
Muster drill = mandatory safety drill for all passengers and crew with the objective to familiarize everyone with the location (muster station) where they are to assemble and what they are to do in the unlikely event of an emergency.
Ship time = Time that the ship is operating on. While in port you will always stay on ship time even if the port is operating in a different time zone.
Lido = main sun deck where pools and food generally is located
MDR = main dining room. Dinner service, brunch and table breakfast service
Tender = small boat that takes you from ship to shore when there is no pier
Embarkation = boarding ship first day
Debarkation = very sad day๐คฃ๐คฃ
Pier runners = people who think โtime to be back on the shipโ doesnโt apply to them and the ship will wait for them ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
What else should I add to this list for newbies?
