A Mountain Fix - Deep Creek Lake, MD is one of our FAVORITE stores to visit when we make it to the lake! Check out this awesome store and the auction for a great cause! And I think we may need this floating lake map hanging on the wall at Anchors Away now that the staircase project is complete!!! Love love love this piece!! So many items on our walls at the condo (and at home) come from this awesome little hidden gem of a store!!

We partner with many local small businesses and charitable organizations but we are VERY excited to be a part of the 2023 Governor's Cup Silent Auction (online) for the Deep Creek Winter Sports Snowboard Team! ⛷🏂

We have donated a 4 foot floating metal lake map (pictured below)- if you have had your eye on one of these - NOW's the time and it benefits a great cause - lots of other great items too! I know at least two (maybe three) of the parents already have one of these on THEIR walls! 😎

DID YOU KNOW!? There’s a Lakeside Creamery ice cream stand at Swallow Falls State Park! It gathered quite a little crowd here at the parking lot area, but I’m guessing it’s less busy than the main ice cream shop on the water. Head here for waterfalls + some of the best ice cream around! 😎🎉

SO MUCH RAIN in the forecast this week leaves so many Deep Creek visitors asking, "What do we do when it rains?"

Well I've got some indoor ideas for you! Here's a list:

Traders Coffee House - Warm up with soup or a specialty coffee drink, get some treats for the family! No indoor seating available, everything is takeout.

Discovery Center & Deep Creek Lake State Park Volunteers - Small animals inside and a bird aviary outside, especially great for kiddos! Open every day this week 10-4.

The Alley in Oakland - A wonderful bowling scene for all ages! Lane assist for the kiddos, new arcade games and a big food menu! Open 3-10pm daily this week starting the 28th and 12-8pm Saturday!

Candyland - A serious delight for everyone! Half the store is candy! Also a great selection of fresh fruits and veggies, along with unique snacks and cooking ingredients. Located in Grantsville and Oakland in the farmers market buildings.

Book Mark'et & Antique Mezzanine - Located in downtown Oakland, one of the cutest book stores I've seen! Open at 9:30am daily this week starting the 28th!

Oakland B&O Museum - The old train station + transportation museum are located across the street from each other in downtown Oakland and are especially cool for kids that like things that go! Call before visiting to check for open times.

Firewater Kitchen & Bar - Crafty cocktails and a unique menu or the adults! A seriously cozy atmosphere, perfect for a gray day. I tasted a warm boozy coffee drink there last week...ask the bartenders about it!

GC CARC - Kids can swim for as little as $2 in the giant indoor pool! Open until 9pm on weekdays!

Garrett 8 Cinemas - Spiderman, West Side Story, Sing 2 and more all showing this week!

Ace's Run Restaurant & Pub - Pasta night on Wednesdays! Kids pay their age! This all-you-can-eat pasta treat is a big hit with my kids!

The Cornucopia Café - One of my favorite places to eat! Cozy atmosphere, unique menu...open daily this week 8am to 4pm and 10am to 4pm on New Year's Day. I recommend the avocado toast with salted caramel creamer in your coffee.

3rd Street Diner - A true diner experience in Oakland! Open this week starting at 11am (closed New Year's Day) with daily specials like corned beef reuben and turkey dinner!

Cashmere Clothing Co. - Shopping for the ladies! Go see my friend Marcia at her boutique at The Fort in McHenry...she's having an After Christmas Sale!

A Mountain Fix - Deep Creek Lake, MD - Right next to Cashmere Clothing Co at The Fort in McHenry...lots of things to see and buy!

Short Story Brewing at Deep Creek Lake - Enjoy a brewed beverage inside their stylish tasting space at the lake! Open at 4pm Wednesday - Friday and at 12pm on the weekends.

The Vagabond Taproom - Some good drink and some good food! Open 11am to 10pm Tuesday - Saturday!

Shoofly Java - Brand new coffee shop in downtown Oakland right next to Vagabond!

FireFly Market Deep Creek - Locally loved FireFly has relocated their market to a bigger space in Accident! Go snag yourself some wine, cheese and accompaniments to create a charcuterie board at home or make a reservation for a wine pairing!

Deep Creek Funland - Arcade and home of Deep Creek Pizza!

Deep Creek Funzone - Located at The Fort in McHenry, they've got laser tag, arcade games, a ninja course, pizza, and a bar!

Deep Creek Pottery - Mosaic and paint-your-own kits available! I also see they offer clay classes and groups are welcome to make reservations!

This list does not include everything and is just a compilation of what I know and what I can find right now. I hope it's helpful! And in the meantime...

Make plans now to visit the Joy of Christmas Light Show nightly from November 26 - January 1, 2022 at the Oakland Community Center, located at 14 North 8th Street.

This year’s presentation is all-new and is titled “Back to the 80s,” featuring original versions of classic songs of the 80s, sung with Christmas-themed lyrics.

Approximately 33,000 lights choreographed to music run in a 1 hour loop beginning at 5 pm until midnight; audience members may come and go at any time, but it is recommended to begin watching at the top of the hour.

Admission is free and allows viewers to listen from outdoors on the sidewalk, or park and watch from your car and tune into 87.9 FM in your vehicle. Brought to you by the staff at CHIPS Network, Inc.
