We wanted to clarify that the last ad for employment wasn’t intended for Michigan State- we didn’t select that, nor are we looking to relocate a “laborer” to fill the position.
My suggestion if “Arby’s “ is paying more than 16$ then go work there****(response to a comment on the ad- in Michigan). Yes, we selected a target audience of “central illinois “ as we have many times over the years, again, we are central illinois company- if the audience is outside of that , please don’t respond.

Taking a motor to get rebuilt today, and on my way out of Professional Motor Repair, Mr. McGowan asked if I'd like to check out his rides. Off in the corner of this giant old warehouse shop full of electric motors,I see a tarped ride and a 1952(?) Two door coupe. He's says "take a guess at whats under the tarp", I nailed it . Lucky guess. But this thing is mint. Very cool coupe as well. The delorian has 6000 miles on it! But no flux core capacitor! 🤣😁.
Just good people and cool cars.

One big motor! We worked 13 hrs Fri trying to get job finished. Luckily the facilities director had access to a scissor lift (as my helper had over heated). This was critical to physically get the motor to the edge of the roof. Was still challenging repair, this industry isn't for everyone. 180lb cast iron motor. 10 ton HVAC rooftop unit. Dialed the shiv pulley (adjustment for CFM), and tuned system on Sat. Running like a champ. Hope that's the last 180lb motor I ever set solo. Very grateful for being able to still make it happen without hernia or pulling my back out lol.

Solar information on installations-

We have been getting alot of solar array inquiries. While we appreciate the opportunity, we felt we need to clarify exactly what "free" means.

Alot of companies are stating that anyone can have solar, basically for free. Well, we all know that's not exactly how it goes.

Grid connected system-(most popular, and only one that applies to the current "sales pitch"). This type of system is designed on an "offset" of your power consumption. If space isn't a restriction, and your power usage is low pr kwh, then u certainly can meet the requirements. However, both space and power consumption are KEY in design, & ROI.
Think of it as picking the fruit off the ground first, before climbing the tree. Here's a few things to keep in mind when considering going Solar.

#1- Replace or update your HVAC system, & appliances to energy star or LED fixtures. This would include a higher SEER/AHRI to at least a 16 SEER system. Then the washer/dryer, all lighting fixtures, etc.
#2- IF your wanting an array on your shingled roof, we recommend a new roof if it's more than 10 yrs old.
#3- Solar Array is still dependent on the grid- still have a monthly meter fee, and tax increases in the future
#4- SREC's aka "Solar Renewable Energy Credits" This is the part that is ever changing.
The consumer sells virtual credits to a third party, as they are a tradable commodity, they essentially are agreeing to a certain power output for a 15 yr time period---- in exchange for selling predicted SREC production. (1 megawatt= one SREC credit)
IF during that time period, you don't meet production as anticipated, you get fined from the vendor. (Example: inverter goes out, or panel goes out, and you don't realize it, u get an invoice for $__________? For production loss of guaranteed goods. )

The Illinois commerce commission handles the ground work for SREC's.

While this is a value to a consumer, keep in mind the cost is out of pocket in the beginning, for the whole system. Then consumer must wait to receive their SREC check to recoup some of the cost.

****That's the gimmick. The solar Contractor doesn't wait for the SREC check nor do they guarantee it. Be cautious when dealing with any new solar company. Especially one that says "free solar system!"

Off Grid system-
Independent of utility company.

No SREC programs. Twice the cost of grid connected. Limited to energy storage capabilities. (Teslas new energy storage system coming this spring, however, must purchase solar roof shingles to purchase whole house batteries)

Yesterday was the first time we've ever seen anything like this........for those that don't know -( long read), moral of the story- use licensed, and insured contractors for your mechanical needs. This is why.

The metal piping is exhaust for furnace/water heater. The metal piping is for non condensing appliances temp range of 400-700°f. PVC is used for condensing appliances. Meaning, they are more efficient due to recirculating the exhaust and extracting the residual heat which causes condensation - "hence- condensing furnace" or AKA "90%+ AFUE". Metal flue + plastic flue ---dont mix. EVER.

Call AMS plumbing and heating, or frankly any contractor that is licensed and insured to assess if your not sure. I've been in the industry 27 yrs. This was a first. And yes, we fixed the furnace exhaust by running it up and out the roof seperately.

This customer decided to stay ahead of the coil shortages, and part delays.

There's enough to worry about these days, don't let your HVAC be one of them!

Old man winter setting in!

Things to check BEFORE you call a HVAC service company-

1-. Batteries in thermostat (some have, some don't, worth checking!)
2- change ur filter. Arrow ALWAYS goes towards the equipment/furnace!
3- check your exhaust (Only PVC exhaust)(if it's horizontal out the sill plate) make sure there's no ice sickle hanging off, If there is, knock it off of the PVC.

4.- shouldn't be a 3/4" furnace drain punched out horizontal, however IF there is, be sure it's clear of any ice.

Hopefully these tips can help someone in need. If you need service call AMS, we are booked out, but will try our best to get you up n running.

Here's a little history of AMS. In 2009, I started Advanced HVAC & Mechanical Systems (sole proprietor). As a young man growing up in Clinton, I was very fortunate to have been able to work in every trade at my family's commercial construction business. I knew what trade I was entering before high school started. After graduating in 1995, I worked for a small shop outta Maroa, plumbing and heating. This trade carried me through the years, even allowed me to travel down to the sunshine state for hurricane work. I drove down after Hurricane IVAN, and helped rebuild Perdido Key, and the Pensacola area. Many hurricanes later, I finally came home after Hurricane Katrina! I immediately met my lovely wife out at my family's restaurant (Boondocks). We had our first baby in 2009, and the rest is history. In 2013 I changed to a corporation, (not a chain, OR franchise). Advanced Mechanical Solutions Inc. AKA- or DBA-

I started with a beat up van, and $700. No customers established, just the drive to never give up & Faith in God! Its not been an easy ride. I literally would go door to door handing out flyers, and constantly selling my services, for years. Fast forward to present, I've worked my ass off and grew the bussiness to what it is today. Bought a run down store front in 2017, which is known as AMS shop today. (217 East Main St).

I would not be where I am today without faith in God.

Proud to serve DeWitt county and surrounding areas still today, and planning on the rest of my life. We have 4 employees, that are all local tradesman.

AMS Inc is a full service HVAC & plumbing shop, with sewer service. (We dig our sewers in house, with state of the art equipment.)

After last week, I felt we needed to clear the air. Lol.

Been a while since I've posted (we stay very busy!). Wanted to give some advice for the next few days.
#1- arrow goes towards the furnace when changing filter. If u can't remember when u changed it last? Replace it.
#2- change batteries in tstat. Turn off power to furnace. Remove cover of stat, if you're stat has batteries, you'll see them now. If it doesn't, then move on to tip #3.
#3- humidifier- if your running a humidifier, change the humidipad or wick. This winter has been a work out on HVAC equipment.
