Sri Lanka, Day Five: Beautiful day in Galle. Lovely, historic town on the Indian Ocean with breathtaking views and engaging shops along with an excellent lunch at the Galle Fort Hotel. Onward to our final night's stay at the idyllic hideway, the Cape Weligama Resort.

Sri Lanka, Day Four, For me, the most memorable day of our stay. A train trip to from Kandy to Hatton climbing into the central mountains through both tropical forest and majestic pines. At the top a visit to a beautiful Relais & Chateaux property in the midst of a working tea plantation with lunch overlooking the the fields, gardens and surrounding lakes. Sitting on a garden terrace, drinking a cup of Ceylon Tea harvested from just below was a singular, all-time experience. I would return here to stay in a heartbeat.

A beautiful first day in Dubai. Amidst a full day and evening of activities, having the solitude of the desert to myself as I took a barefoot stroll through the red sands was an incredible experience.

Day Part Two: Red. We continue to the village of Barbaresco and a stop at the Tower, built around the year 1000AD to keep away the pesky Saracens. The "torre" is only about 120 feet high, but the village sits on a cliff that overlooks the areas where the Nebbiolo grape is planted and which produces both of the gorgeous red wines known as Barbaresco and Barolo. The views are amazing and we'll definitely be stopping here in Spring 2024 for both the view and to enjoy a glass of the namesake wine from atop the viewing deck. Afterwards we headed to Castiglione d'Asti, home to the castle fortifications and the renowned cooking school ICIF. This village is the epicenter of the third red 'B' wine the area is most known for (and my own house pour), Barbera. Glorious day, hope you don't mind me oversharing.
