We had some pretty bright aurora here in town in Anchorage earlier this week! And the Big Dipper was even visible behind the Northern Lights. 🤩

At the Anchorage airport, the snow measurements for the 2023-2024 season have officially passed 100 inches of total snowfall. ❄ This will be the 9th time since recording started in the 1950's that Anchorage has had this level of snow.

We also just experienced the 2nd coldest Easter on record, with temperatures in the high 20's Fahrenheit and below 0 Celsius. 🥶🐰

We know, yet another aurora picture in your feed! 😁

You may be seeing a lot more of them in the near future. Astronomers predict that the frequency and intensity of the auroras will continue to increase throughout this year and next year, into 2025. This is known as the Solar Maximum and the auroras can continue on for another 4 years past that point!

The latest auroras have been so intense that they were visible in some places as far south as Montana and Colorado.

Happy Halloweekend! 👻😈 There are lots of spooky Halloween events happening this weekend! The Anchorage Zoo is hosting the Zoo Boo tomorrow and Monday, 10/30 and 10/31, from 10am-8pm.

Trick-or-treat stations and full event activities will be on October 30th only, spooky trails open on October 31st.

National Park week is April 16 - 24th. Not only are Alaska's National Parks extraordinary, we can also boast the tallest mountain in North America (Denali), and the largest national park in the U.S. (Wrangell-St. Elias). 🙆‍♀️ 🗻

Here is a glimpse of our 24 Alaskan National Parks, in order from left to right: Denali National Park, Gates of the Arctic National Park, Glacier Bay National Park, Katmai National Park, and Kenai Fjords National Park.

The 2022 Fur Rendezvous Festival, known as Fur Rondy begins this Friday Feb. 25th and goes until Mar. 6th, 2022 in Anchorage!

There are more than 20 official events- including fireworks, a reindeer run, and outhouse races! The community also hosts nearly 50 Rondy Round Town events. ❄🎉

Hosted in the Ship Creek area in Anchorage, this Fur Rondy event showcases artist creating miracles from blocks of snow.

This year's event will be on Feb 22 from 10am to 10pm.

Valentine's Day is right around the corner! 💘

This Feb. 14 is the beginning of the World Ice Art Championships 2022 in Fairbanks. The contest is the largest of its kind in the world and attended by more than 100 sculptors from 30 countries every year.

This competition will be held from Feb.14 - Mar. 31, 2022. 🥶

Today is Thanksgiving, tomorrow is Black Friday, and Saturday is Small Business Saturday. We are so thankful for the life we have, and the friends we get to meet along the way. Thank you for your support over the years!

Hatcher Pass is one of Alaska's best backcountry getaway destinations. The pass has a rich history of miners entering the Talkeetna Mountains searching for gold, and the subsequent mining operations built there.

No known historical native settlements were in the area although the Dena'ina peoples were known to hunt for caribou, sheep, and moose in the Talkeetnas up until the 1930's.

Today, many Alaskans enjoy skiing, hiking, snowmachining, wildlife viewing and more at Hatcher Pass.

Last week, Katmai National Park and Preserve named Otis the winner of 2021’s Fat Bear Week. This was Otis’ fourth win. He was estimated to weigh over 900 pounds!

Katmai’s brown bears gorge in the late summer on a rich diet of salmon, and can gain up to four pounds a day in this time.

We're excited to support the Motorcar Operators West (MOW) on their "North to Alaska" trip, going from Fairbanks to Seward. MOW is dedicated to the restoration and safe, legal operation of railroad motorcars.

They'll be coming from Talkeetna through Wasilla on Wednesday!
