We had some pretty bright aurora here in town in Anchorage earlier this week! And the Big Dipper was even visible behind the Northern Lights. 🤩

At the Anchorage airport, the snow measurements for the 2023-2024 season have officially passed 100 inches of total snowfall. ❄ This will be the 9th time since recording started in the 1950's that Anchorage has had this level of snow.

We also just experienced the 2nd coldest Easter on record, with temperatures in the high 20's Fahrenheit and below 0 Celsius. 🥶🐰

We know, yet another aurora picture in your feed! 😁

You may be seeing a lot more of them in the near future. Astronomers predict that the frequency and intensity of the auroras will continue to increase throughout this year and next year, into 2025. This is known as the Solar Maximum and the auroras can continue on for another 4 years past that point!

The latest auroras have been so intense that they were visible in some places as far south as Montana and Colorado.

Happy Halloweekend! 👻😈 There are lots of spooky Halloween events happening this weekend! The Anchorage Zoo is hosting the Zoo Boo tomorrow and Monday, 10/30 and 10/31, from 10am-8pm.

Trick-or-treat stations and full event activities will be on October 30th only, spooky trails open on October 31st.
