Happy One Year Anniversary to US! 🥂

I opened my Facebook yesterday to realize that Lover's Lane Lookout has officially been operating for one year! 😌

Last year, on July 1, we had an open house in which our community had showed us tremendous support! At this time, we were unsure of how this adventure would unfold, but I am so incredibly happy to say that it has been more than we could have asked for! It's been such a fun ride!

We have learned so much in our first year and loved meeting our guests and giving them a special experience in a 'home away from home'.

We are incredibly thankful for our Co-Hosts who have changed the game for our family--we could not do this without you!

Thank you to all of our wonderful guests for what has been an amazing experience (this far) as short-term rental owners!

"Perfect place for girls getaway! Everything we needed was available and easy to find. The kitchen is well stocked for all the cooking we did. The lower balcony with the hot tub is tucked between some walls to keep you out of the wind and helps it feel quiet and private with a view of the river. This was one of the cleanest AirBnBs I’ve ever seen. Hardly a speck of dust to be seen! The home is beautiful, well kept, and has a great use of space. Instructions left in various places mean you are never left wondering and helps to make for a great and comfortable stay. 10/10 would recommend this home!"

We take our guests feedback very seriously. 😊

While we do our best to think of everything you may need during your stay with us, there may occasionally be a few items we miss.

For example, we recently had family with littles stay with us. 👶👧🧒.

Upon their departure, they suggested adding a digital clock and night lights in the ‘Kids Corner’ for littles who need a little extra security at night. (What a great idea! 👏. How we missed this with little ones of our own, I’m not sure 😂!)

Of course, this was immediately added to our list of upgrades.

While hotels offer a handful of amenities and convenience, short-term rentals can offer a completely different experience when needing a place to stay while traveling.

It's just that--an experience!

Lover's Lane Lookout - Vacation Rental offers a "home away from home" experience.

Our goal is to ensure you have everything you need to feel comfortable, relaxed and 'right at home'.

In our opinion (and experience 🤪), cramming everyone into a hotel room just doesn't work. Especially if you have littles ones like us.

Being able to cook a homemade meal, enjoy it on the back deck, then take some time for yourself--while the kiddos spend time in the kids' room—playing Wii or with the many toys/activities--takes your vacation to a completely different level.

There is no question, our family will always look for a short-term rental first before booking a hotel.

Weekends are already filling up fast for this year. We have one weekend open in April with lowered prices--April 12/13.

We receive so many compliments on the design and layout of Lover’s Lane Lookout.

…and while your hostess, Alex, had a passion for decorating and design, she can’t take the credit for this.

We will forever be thankful for Staging 2 Sell It out of Marshalltown for their expertise and commitment to our vision! 🥰. We had our own ideas and they helped us maximize our space efficiently, as well as helped carry a theme through out the home.

They have assisted us with a few different projects and deliver results every time!

Within the modern upgrades to Lover's Lane Lookout, lives a rich history.

Pictured below, a photograph of two 'lovers' taking a ride down Lover's Lane, projected between 1901 and 1911.

There is something so unique to the experience of staying in our home, knowing that as you look out over the 2-story deck, once was a place where horse and buggy use to travel carrying two lovers on perhaps a Sunday ride dressed in their best attire.

Or as the holidays approach, knowing that at one time, a previous homeowner had built a slide down the back hill, that the neighborhood children would sled down across the ice-covered dirt road.

We sincerely appreciate when a guest leaves a detailed review of their experience, so future guests know what to expect!

When John and I were creating our short term rental, we knew there was no detail that could be left out. We envisioned an oasis, a relaxing escape from day-to-day activities, where families or couples could go to relax and unwind.

That meant comfortable beds, soothing colors, and of course, privacy (just the tip of the iceberg).

Fall is just around the corner (it may not feel like it), but it will be the perfect time to relax and unwind, fireside or in the hot tub, and take in the changing leaves or hear the Harleys barreling down Lover's Lane.
