Guess what!?!? Oh you will never guess.....Atlantic Dreams OBX grew by 25 feet today!! Yes you read that right we purchased the lot next to us!!!
We have plans to do some special things with it but until then we will enjoy the knowledge that no one will be building a tiny house that will over look the pool at Atlantic Dreams OBX.

Please do not dig holes, while fun it may be deadly in an instant.

🕳️ Please don’t dig holes on the beach. They are a falling hazard for folks walking the beach, public safety patrolling, and a deadly collapse hazard for those digging them. 🏖️

We are almost ready for the season! We can’t wait for our guests to enjoy the sweet sounds and sights of the beach ☀️🌊⛱️
Deep clean, carpet and tile clean are scheduled for next week. Not many upgrades this year as a new roof is in our future, 👎🏻 😫
The new living room chair and a few deck chairs are delayed a couple of weeks so no picture.

Last day walk in the beach this morning and Mother Ocean and Earth were very generous.
Not only did I see a gorgeous sunrise 🌄 but I saw tons of dolphins 🐬 and found these.
Now if you know me I had searched years for my first one, drove Corey crazy. To find this many in Rodanthe is INSANE and a true gift!

It is with the deepest sadness we report that Charlie Griffin and his beloved dog, Leila, have passed away in a boating accident today, March 4th.

🐳 Happy World Whale Day!

Today we celebrate and raise awareness to the animals we can see right from our Seashore: whales! Due to the proximity to the continental shelf and the collision of the Labrador current and the Gulf Stream, the Outer Banks is a hotspot for whale sightings as they feed and swim right offshore.

More than 30 species of cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises) have been documented throughout North Carolina. Typically, larger species like the Humpback Whale and North Atlantic Right Whale can be seen migrating south to their breeding grounds in the early winter and then again in the spring as they migrate north to their feeding grounds. Often you may only see a dorsal fin, a spout of water, or a fluke raise above the water from shore so keep an eye out and you may get lucky!”

Can’t wait to see the new sign when we come to get the house ready in a couple of weeks!!

Thanks to F&H Print Signs of Elizabeth City for our new signs. We installed them today. They look GREAT! Our old signs were damaged in the wind storm a few weeks ago.

We are planning to open March 23 for this season. Look forward to seeing everyone!

Holy Crab that is a LOT of balloons!! Please find alternatives to balloon releases (or balloons all together).

2023 End of Year Balloon Update: 1,786 balloons were collected and picked up along the Seashore.

Park Biologists not only monitor nesting shorebirds and keep watch over sea turtle nests; they also pick up trash along the beach. Just as they track statistics for these nesting animals, they also record significant trash items found on the beach. In 2022, a total of 733 balloons were collected.

Balloons are a common source of celebration and joy, but they can also have consequences when released outside. Debris can impact creatures we protect both on land and in sea, ironically like the fish on this balloon. Balloons can break down into small pieces of brightly colored plastic that look like food and are often ingested by wildlife.

Before you let those balloons soar, think twice! There are many ways to celebrate without potentially harming the environment. Share your eco-friendly celebration ideas in the comments below ⬇
