12 days of Christmas....haunted hotels!

The Lime Rock Inn was built in 1892 for Congressman Charles E. Littlefield. In 1950, Dr. Oren Lawry Jr. bought the house and ran his medical practice out of it. If you visit the inn today, you should know the parlor room was the waiting room while the Grand Manan room was used as the examination room. Dr. Lawry sold the home in 1994 the LimeRock Inn, was established.

Many visitors and guests believe the spirits that remain are Dr. Lawry's former patients. Apparitions have been seen in all parts of the inn but mostly in the former exam and waiting room. Be sure to keep and eye and ear out for the spirit of two kids who have been heard laughing and playing on the property.

12 days of Christmas....haunted hotel edition!

This lovely hotel opened on Thanksgiving Day in 1875. It boasted many modern amenities, including hot and cold running water, steam heat, three dining rooms, a parlor, billiard hall, barbershop, and four water closets. There was also a ballroom on the fourth floor.

Ghost stories begin in 1890 when it served as a temporary morgue for boat accident. Some paranormal activity is attributed to those who died in the accident. The third floor is particularly active so, if you aren't afraid of spirits, that is where you need to spend the night.

Room 310 is known as Clara's room, a former waitress at the hotel but who ultimately married the owner. It is thought that her love for the hotel keeps her there overseeing hotel operations.

There is another spirit believed to be a construction worker who fell to his death while on the job. He is often reported walking the lobby and sometimes on the grand staircase. In addition to him, you may hear disembodied voices, feel random and sudden drop in temperature, jiggling door k***s, and ghostly footsteps in the lobby.

12 days of Christmas.....haunted hotel edition!

The Roads Hotel was built in 1893 by the Roads Family. In addition to being a hotel, it also served as a brothel and speakeasy during its lifetime. Multiple deaths occurred in the home: the youngest Roads child died of tuberculosis, parents Clara and Newton Roads died in the home, and it is believed a preacher hung himself in the attic as well although some argued it was murder. Al Capone is believed to have visited the hotel adding even more mystery to the history of the hotel. The hotel
The hotel closed its doors in 1937 but remained in the Roads family’s hands for another 30 years.

Paranormal activity you might experience: hearing disembodied voices and footsteps, the sounds of items being moved around, and multiple apparitions believed to be members of the Roads family.

12 days of Christmas.....haunted hotels edition!

This stunning hotel was built in 1927 with luxuries that drew the famous and the wealthy from all around. Most of rooms had views of the Atlantic Ocean, and all of them had private bathrooms. It even had an indoor fresh ocean water swimming pool.

The hotel attracted some of the biggest names in Hollywood including Elizabeth Taylor, Judy Garland, Bob Hope, and Frank Sinatra. Other famous guests included Muhammad Ali, Presidents Jimmy Carter and JFK among other politicians and celebrities.

Reports of paranormal activity range from phantom phone calls to the front desk from rooms that are not occupied (specifically on the 6th floor), a piano that plays on its own, apparitions on the 6th floor, a spirit dog and cat, and elevators that run from floor to floor carrying phantom guests. The activity on the 6th floor is thought be to Adolph Coors, founder of the Coors beer company, who died after falling from a 6th floor window.

12 Days of Christmas.......haunted hotel edition!

The Bigelow Hotel opened in 1927 and was named after Archie P. Bigelow, a local banker. Before the Bigelow Hotel stood the Reed Hotel which had been built in 1891 on the same site.

The Bigelow was known as one of the most luxurious hotels in Utah and it drew the well-to-do from around the state and beyond. In 1933 the hotel was acquired by Marriner S. Eccles and it was known as the Ben Lomond Hotel for the next 40-ish years. The hotel subsequently became part of Radisson hotels and is once again known as the Bigelow Hotel.

The hotel is allegedly haunted by at least a couple of spirits. One spirit is believed to be a cook who died after falling down an elevator shaft when the hotel was known as the Reed. Another spirit is that of a woman who lost a son in a train accident, and died on the 11th floor of a broken heart. Another spirit is reported to be a woman who drowned in the bathtub of room 1102.

You might experience hearing disembodied voices, crying, footsteps, someone jiggling the doorknob, shadow figures lurking about the hotel hallways, and apparitions in room 1102.

Built in 1892, this lovely hotel originally operated as a saloon and gambling hall. Now the structure has 24 rooms but a lot more ghost stories.

The most haunted room is allegedly room 307. In that room you might experience the feeling of being watched, disembodied footsteps and creaking floorboards, and the apparition of Irene, a former hotel maid.

12 Days of Christmas.......haunted hotel edition!

The Generals’ Quarters Inn was originally established as a church in 1872 but it went on to be a private home, a bar and restaurant, a brothel, then ultimately a hotel.

Visitors have reported hearing disembodied voices and footsteps, seeing lights turn on and off on their own, the scent of to***co, and doors opening and closing on their own. It is said that a servant died when he fell down a flight of stairs.
