The boys of Ruedy Ranch got baths today in anticipation of Linear Appraisal. They'll get clipped tomorrow and after temps of almost 90° I can't believe they didn't appreciate it! 😉😂 Cosby, Malachi, Apollo and Sly.

We had a super fun day at the Tri-State Classic Show yesterday! The best part was catching up with old friends. Molly was the Reserve Champion in ring 1! We're really hoping to attend a few more shows this summer!

I have a pretty special buckling available. His dam is Jillian and sire is McQuitty-Farm Anthem Stallone. Jillian was not appraised as a yearling due to Covid but will be appraised this year. Sly previously appraised VEE 89 as a 3 year old. We've used him in the past and have gotten mostly bucks so this year when we bred him to just about everyone the doe fairy blessed us! His daughters are loooooong and tall! Jillians dam and maternal sister both had great appraisals in 2019 and both scored E for mammary. We're excited to offer this guy so if you are looking to improve mammaries and add length this could be your guy. Pictured is dams sire, Jillian, her paternal sister, paternal sister to buckling. The girls are managing to stay comfortable with the current temps. It's -11°F, -24°C. Our first doe was due yesterday but hasn't given up her kids yet. I'm not mad about it! We may have a couple of bucks available out of my favorite does.

We have a couple Maremma still available from our last litter. These are well started dogs. Currently working with their parents. They are calm and great with livestock. We have finally finished our 2016 kidding season. 12 does have given is 17 daughters so we've decided we'll need to part with a few to keep our numbers manageable. What???? I would like to know if any of you remove wattles. I've never heard of anyone actually removing them because of a dislike although I know some prefer to not breed for them. I'm a wattle lover. Good thing because every kid this year so far has them! Lol

Goat wattles are hair-covered appendages of flesh hanging from the throat area. They seem to pose little advantage or disadvantage to the full-grown goat.

This weekend we had some extra special visitors. It's not the norm that I feel a real connection with someone that I don't have an opportunity to see very often. I am so blessed to be able to call these ladies friends for almost as long as I can remember. I feel even more blessed when I get to spend time with their children and remember back to the days when we were so carefree. I'm not sure who enjoyed the visit more...kids or moms?

I'm beginning to lose count but I do know that of the first 4 does to kid, 3 have given us triplets and we've had 1 set of twins. The best part...every doe has produced a daughter. We'll have plenty of yearling daughters from Noble - Springs Mo' Effective that we will be freshening in 2017. These are triplets born last night.
