At the ripe age of 38 years, I made the decision to take a risk and follow my passion as an artist and a nerd, and make web and graphic design a full time reality. For me, this is not the type of work that I drag myself to do every day, then hastily leave behind the moment I walk out the door: it is my true passion. My waking thoughts and midnight oil hours are spent thinking of how to create, com
bine and perfect the combination of functionality, aesthetics and art with my other passion: technology. My love for art began as a child… I can remember even at an early age experiencing the mental process of breaking things down to shapes, patterns and colors, and began learning how to create and assemble them from scratch. Sadly, as I got older, I did not follow my true nature but did what was practical; I went to school for electronics and worked as a Sr. Field Technician at Motorola for many years, and many evolutions of technology. As the electronics industry migrated from ‘repair’ to ‘replace’, I found my place in it more and more unstable; I finally decided an overhaul in my career and other areas in my life was in order! In 2007, after re-discovering and re-sharpening my self-taught design and code authoring skills, I finally committed to the risk of redefining myself, and jumping into the life of a web and graphic designer full-time, with both feet and start learn how to do it from the pro's! As I found that a career in design, art and technology was now practical, I tested and was accepted as a Web Design and Interactive Media student at the Art Institute of Philadelphia in 2009, to further sharpen my skill set and keep pace with the still rapidly advancing technology. I anticipate graduation with an Bachelor's Degree from my current major at AiPH in the winter of 2012, and plan to begin earning a Masters's Degree in Web Design immediately after graduation from the Art Institute of Philadelphia.
