Friends of Mayo River State Park - First Day Hike. Start 2025 on the right foot—outside on a trail! Begins at 9:00am.

Start the year off right with a day in the great outdoors! 🌲🌞 On Wednesday, January 1 at 9:00 am, join Friends of Mayo River State Park for a guided 1.8-mile hike along the Fox Trail. Meet at the picnic shelter located at the Mayo Mountain Access. There will be a fire ready for you to warm your hands before and after the hike. Hot chocolate is available while supplies last! 🥾

Congratulations to the Town of Mayodan on being awarded $94,920 by the North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation! Mayodan is one of just four communities recently selected to receive funding through the Connecting Communities to State Trails grants, part of the broader Complete the Trails initiative. This funding will support Mayodan in developing trails and related amenities that will seamlessly connect to the state's expansive trail network, enhancing both local and regional access to outdoor recreation.
