Great Basin Fire

Great Basin Fire Great Basin Fire is a wildland firefighting company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. We are starting our 12th season and our company is continually growing.

Vaughn Robbins created this company in 2009 after having fought wildfires for 10 years. Great Basin Fire has six engines; Two Type 4 Engines, Two Type 6 Engines, One Type 5 Engine and One Tactical Tender and One Water Tender. We travel all over the country, to various states to assist in the containment of wildland fires. In the 11 years Great Basin Fire has been in business, we have built a stron

g reputation for our professionalism and our ability to form relationships with fellow firefighters. Every year we hold training classes and welcome new wildland firefighters into our company.

: The National has decreased to a 3 (PL3) as of 7:30 a.m. (MDT) today, October 22.

While significant fire activity continues across multiple Geographic Areas, more favorable and fall like weather has resulted in improving fuels conditions in other Geographic Areas. The National Interagency Coordination Center has also seen a significant decrease in the ordering of resources for the past several days and the availability of nationally shared resources is increasing for most resource types for this time of year.

Pretty crazy for October. Trucks are out in Idaho, Wyoming and Utah on fires 🔥

: The National has increased to 5 (PL5) as of 7:30 a.m. (MDT) today, October 8. The latest we have been in PL5 in previous years was October 1, 2020. The five preparedness levels range from the lowest (1) to the highest (5).

Significant wildland fire activity remains in multiple Geographic Areas. Hurricane all-hazard response also remains significant and is projected to increase with the addition of another storm (Milton) scheduled to make landfall this week. Predictive Services at the National Interagency Coordination Center (NICC) indicate that the “extremely anomalous fire environment” will remain in place until at least mid-October for much of the country.

Resource demands continue to increase. NICC is increasingly engaging with Geographic Area Coordination Centers to coordinate and fill orders for all resource types.

: The National has increased to a 4 (PL4) as of 7:30 a.m. (MDT) today, October 4, 2024.

Significant wildland fire activity is again increasing in multiple Geographic Areas. Hurricane Helene all hazard-incident response is also significant and will increase in the coming days and weeks. Predictive Services indicates an "extremely anomalous fire environment through at least mid-October" for much of the country.

The potential for significant incidents to emerge in multiple Geographic Areas indicates that resource demands will continue or increase. The National Interagency Coordination Center is increasingly engaging with Geographic Area Coordination Centers to coordinate and fill orders for all resource types.

Although wildland fire activity persists across several Geographic Areas in the country, most regions continue to experience a significant decrease in initial attack and large fire growth. The National Interagency Coordination Center (NICC) has also observed a sharp decline in resource ordering and an increase in the availability of nationally shared resources.

This season is still going strong.

: The National has upgraded to a 5 (PL5) as of 7:30 a.m. (MDT) today, September 6.

Significant wildland fire activity is once again increasing in multiple Geographic Areas with a high potential for additional large wildland fires to emerge over the next several days.

All national resources are heavily committed and the National Interagency Coordination Center is coordinating national resource requests with Geographic Area Coordination Centers who are below draw-down levels for multiple resource types. Active Geographic Areas are intensively engaged in prioritization of incidents and reallocation of resources as needed to ensure effective incident operations.
