Earlier this month at the Westfield town board meeting, a 3 month zoning moratorium regarding commercial recreation (currently defined as: Any area providing recreational activities, facilities or services for a fee.) was announced. They are having the first public meeting regarding this moratorium tomorrow (Wednesday) at 4:30pm. Although I timely filed an application for commercial recreation for my short term rental, they were advised by the town attorney to not hear my application and have instead decided to go into this moratorium. The town board, with the input of the public, will determine how they will change / further define “commercial recreation” in the town code. I am not certain why they chose not to hear my application, but if you’re interested in seeing growth (which would impact short term rentals such as mine) in Westfield, I would encourage you to attend the meeting tomorrow. I am concerned they will implement new language which will preclude my property from being run as a short term rental in its current state. I have a letter from the health department which indicates the glampsite is in compliance. Thank you for your continued support.
