A fun find today at the Craig’s Old House, a painting of the old Williams High School which was located up on Sheridan Street.. I reached out to Bill Sutton and asked him if he knows “Ellen”. This is what he said. “Well the Masons bought it and tore it down and sold the bricks. Ellen Mason was Frank Masons wife. Marvin Mason is the son and still lives here. I bet it is Ellen Mason”. So cool! Our Grandpa Robby Smith went to this old High School….. our mom (Kathie) was one of the first classes to attend the “new” High School that’s still standing today. The same high school the Craig Kids also attended. GO VIKINGS! 🧡🖤

When Bob & Kathie Craig purchased the Craig’s Old House in 1979, it was PINK and the inside was Olive Green ….

FUN FACT: Most of the windows are original and open by the rope & weight pulley systen.

Throughout the renovation process, we found many layers of paint over many layers of wallpaper. Some of the old wallpaper still has the velvet on it.

Another room down….. don’t mind the floors (original wood found under carpet). The Craig Men will be refinishing them last after all the painting is done. QUESTION: the Craig Kids are debating what to do with the paneling. Do we keep it? Change it? Ditch it? Love to hear your thoughts!

The original hardware, hinges and chandeliers, will remain a functional piece of this historic home. I’m sure they have the best stories to tell.

FUN FACT: Craig’s Old House was purchased by Bob and Kathie Craig on July 20, 1979 for $42,000. They lived there with their children: Jeff, Robby, Brian and Shana. Bob and Kathie both passed away in 2022. It is our hope to keep this house in our family for generations to come.

It is our understanding and belief that this house was built sometime in the 1880’s by one of the first engineers of the Grand Canyon Railway.

The hardest part for me, is painting the ceilings. I am grateful for my daughter and son-in-love for doing this one for me. The carpentry in old victorian houses is unmatched in newer builds.
