Song Farm Guesthouse

Song Farm Guesthouse 10 miles SE of Winnsboro | 2BR/1-FB farmhouse w/fully equipped kitchen & dedicated work space. Campfire ring. Welcome! Fresh-picked songs and all that!

Wooded trails. 8-acre private pond for 'pondering,' kayaking, fishing and dreaming! Your stay is a great help to these 2 organic song farmers! Here’s the short story of our Song Farm Guesthouse home. We’re your hosts Lynn Adler and Lindy Hearne. The Song Farm Guesthouse is very much a part of our home here at the Spring Hollow Organic Song Farm 10 miles southeast of Winnsboro, TX. We lived here as

renters and itinerant music consultants brought to town to help the community grow its economy by helping create a music festival in 2001. The festival we envisioned didn’t pan out at the time, but it was in that process we discovered our love of Winnsboro along with these 18 acres of hallowed ground. As you’ll see from the posters and memorabilia on the walls of the Guesthouse, we did have a hand in bringing music to life in our adopted hometown after all. We hosted weekly live concerts at a venue we established on Winnsboro’s Main Street called Crossroads Coffeehouse & Music Co. (History tidbit: Winnsboro was originally named Crossroads; founded in 1854.) We managed to keep those shows going from November 2005 through May 2009. Then we began touring full time with our own music making on the national Folk scene. We’ve so-far released six recordings as Adler & Hearne, including our most recent CD The Ties That Bind Us on Howlin’ Dog Records. New musical projects are always in the works here. We had the opportunity to purchase this property in 2002 from dear friends Joseph and Mary Germann, and learned from them that former owners (the Hyde family from Austin) had named this special 18.25 acres “Spring Hollow” because the primary residence (we call it “the cabin” as our home is built on what was an old sharecroppers cabin site) is situated in a hollow at the edge of an eight-acre private spring-fed pond. Which by the way has been known through the years as Goolsby’s Pool. It’s even the site of our tiny wedding here in November 2019 when we decided to put the bow on our 40-year friendship and tied the knot. As the great blue heron flies, we’re just down the hill from the Song Farm Guesthouse -- a bit to the north. You can’t see our cabin from the Guesthouse, nor can we see it. But you CAN see the glimmers on the pond. Just look out the windows on the west side of the house (back bedroom, kitchen sink and dining room windows) or gaze out from the patio or back yard, and you’ll see its reflection down the hill, along with beautiful sunsets and ‘last light’ that come shining through our little piece of the East Texas piney woods. To the east of the house of course (outside the front bedroom, bathroom and living room windows) come the beautiful sunrises and ‘first light’ through the pines of Pineview just across the road. So welcome to our piney woods home. And please do be at home when you arrive. Scan through the pages of our Welcome Home guidebook so you’re familiar with how things work around our guesthouse. Plus, we’ve provided helpful information about the many things to see and do in Winnsboro and surrounds. If you have questions or concerns, please text (preferred) or call Lynn’s cell at (214) 952-6086. Thank you for being our guest/s and know you are welcome here,

THE STORY BEHIND THE STAY...Friends, it's me here with another Song Farm Guesthouse success story and 5-Star Review for our Airbnb listing. In mid January we hosted a small group of women for their 'friend reunion' weekend. There are many great Airbnb locations to choose from, so we always feel honored when someone chooses OUR guesthouse for making more memories. I had more than one opportunity to brush up against this soulful reunion, and it was clear their friendship runs deep and they solved many of the world's problems while hanging their hats at our humble guest space.

Interestingly, the ring leader of this gather-up had heard yours trulies (Adler & Hearne) at one of our Texas Commission on the Arts-funded performances for the City of Allen a couple of years ago. She is a fan now, and had been following our news about our Song Farm Guesthouse outside Winnsboro.

She's moved to Alabama, and she not only invited some Allen-area friends out to join her at the Song Farm Guesthouse, she took advantage of one of our new add-ons (A PRIVATE HOUSE CONCERT!) The pic featured here is from the day Lindy and I popped in to serenade them before their evening meal.

What a treat, for us and them too it seemed. So you see, when you come to stay at the Song Farm Guesthouse you're a great blessing to these two scrappy folk singer-songwriters. when you add on a private house concert (or campfire concert), even more so. Here's the sweet review they left for us (below). Thank you dear friends one and all for sharing about our Airbnb listing with the ones you love. In a few more months we will have been hosting guests for one full year!

REVIEW: "My friends and I had a great, restful, rejuvenating few days at the Song Farm Guesthouse, time and space for talking, laughing, catching up, walking in the woods, listening to the quiet. Room and equipment to cook a bit, as our group enjoys eating together. Everything I had wanted it to be in planning for the time there! Plus I added a wonderful little concert one afternoon, which was the high point for us!"

HOME MOVIE NIGHT | I'm experimenting here. Made a short video tour from inside our Airbnb Song Farm Guesthouse today. Hope you enjoy my little tour!

P.S. For some reason the end segment separated from the rest, so I'll add it below in the comments. Let me know your thoughts. (I know. I need to hire a pro!!)

May our song wrap its arms around this beautiful hurting planet. Especially on my heart this morning are those suffering alone and in fear due to laws and righteous attitudes that do not support the freedom of us ALL to be ourselves; just some of us. Thank you for the power in these words, Dr. King. And thank you Lindy Hearne and Lisa Aschmann for writing this beautiful song in tribute.

(I'll tuck the song into the comments below.)

The Legacy
Words & Music by Lindy Hearne and Lisa Aschmann
Based on the writings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

1.
In completely equal portions,
There is God within us all.
However we feel mighty;
However we feel small.

Chorus:
Everyone is an heir to the legacy
Of dignity and worth.
The stamp of the Creator
Is in us from our birth.
And each of us is priceless;
Someday this thought may cross the earth.
Everyone is an heir to the legacy
Of dignity and worth.

We’re not animated tools.
We’re not here for what we do.
Not intellect, not race,
Nor position is our truth. (Chorus)

Bridge:
Our worth is a legacy.
A gift that can’t be bought.
When we disrespect each other,
We abuse the image of God. (Chorus)

Tag:
Everyone is an heir to the legacy.
Everyone is an heir to the legacy.
Everyone is an heir to the legacy.
