BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!! I am now a certified Hawaiian Destination Expert!! I did some extensive training on all the islands. We went to Hawaii and fell in love. We are going back in Sept to renew our vows. My passion is Disney. Guess what, there is a Disney Resort in Hawaii! As much as I love Disney and all it embodies Hawaii is totally different but I love it just as much and what the Hawaiian people embody! Please feel free to share this announcement. Let me know if I can help you with planning your next trip to paradise!

This is a little late coming but since it’s so cold in the Midwest, why not relive Christmas!?! This is the gingerbread carousel at the beach club. This years theme was A Christmas Carol. Truly spectacular! Have you been to Walt Disney World during the holidays?

May your year be filled with love and be a magical year!

Epcot has many festivals throughout the year. In sept we went to food and wine. They have little samples of food, wine, beer, and cocktails (all for an added price). These are our samplings. We usually split everything so you have a few bites to try. Some items you can use as snack credits on the dining plan. There is never enough tables or seating so be prepared to stand and eat or even eat on top of a garbage can (it’s a running joke with Disney regulars but also true). We have gotten things and not liked them and have gotten others and wanted more! It’s a fun way to explore the countries if you are a foodie! They also have an eat to the beat concert series. There was no one we wanted to see when we went this time but it’s a small outside venue and some fun bands! We’ve seen 38 special, 98 Degrees, and Blue October.

As many times as I have been to Disney it’s fun to step outside the box and do new things (or something you did only once as a kid). We did the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical R***e this time. We got there early as it’s at the campground and no direct transportation. We had time to explore however, the barn had just closed. All the horses for Disney are at this barn. Next time we will be earlier! You can also do horse and carriage rides and we thought about it after our dinner except we had a deluge of rain so they were not running. Let me tell you about Hoop-Dee-Doo. The food was great (cornbread, salad, and coleslaw to start, fried chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, beans, and mac and cheese for main course, and strawberry shortcake for dessert). To be honest, neither of us cared for the ribs but I know a lot of people that like them. And I wished I saved room for strawberry shortcake as I had two bites and was stuffed! It was so amazing! But the show! So funny! Dad jokes! Singing! Stompin! Clappin! Audience participation! And just good clean fun! They do 3 shows a night. Have you ever seen the show?

Disney World has started to make preparations for the forecasted hurricane.

10/05/2024

There is another tropical storm probable upgrade hurricane coming toward Florida. The video is when we were there in the middle of the night probably at the height of what we got. This one is heading straight to the middle of the state. I can’t stress enough Disney is a safe place to be with protocols and their planning however, I would also be smart and cancel a trip if need be. Some people are saying go, parks will be empty. Yes, they may even be closed. And 10 minutes in the rain is different than all day pouring rain. Some rides do not open in the rain either. Airports will be closed, traveling will be hard as people will be being rebooked. I can’t stress enough not stress enough that if you are in Disney during a hurricane you will be taken good care of but if you can cancel that might be the better bet. For now, let’s all send our prayers, good vibes, and well wishes for safety! And maybe send a little pixie dust!

Let’s talk club level! This time we did a split stay all at the beach club. Club level gives you several perks. One being food, another being concierge service to assist with dining reservations and any thing you can think of. This is a floor that requires key card or magic band access to. I took pics of the menus and my breakfasts every morning. There was mimosas, wine, beer, coffee, specialty coffee maker, juice (including POG), cans of soda, bottles of water, lemonade, iced tea, and iced water in a special ice chiller. Breakfasts varied but always had pastries, toast, and bagels. Snacks varied but always had cheese platter and veggies. Then the hors d’oeuvres and the dessert varied as well. There was always a freezer with Mickey ice cream sandwiches and frozen fruit bars. We did access the food often. We really enjoyed just being able to walk out of our room especially at breakfast. There were also a few extra toiletries. Being a dental hygienist I loved the dental kit! There were robes in the room for use and slippers to take home.

Let’s talk dining plan! Dining plans have made a return post Covid. There are two you can pick from. One is the traditional Disney dining plan and the other is quick service. Quick service dining plan is two quick service meals with a non alcohol drink (or if of age and location serves alcohol, you can get an alcohol drink)one snack, and one refillable mug (mug is per stay) per NIGHT of stay. So if you are staying 7 days but 6 nights you will have 12 meals and 6 snacks per person. For the traditional Disney dining plan you get one quick service, one sit down which also includes a dessert, one snack, and one refillable mug per NIGHT. Same applies for alcohol. Now a few sit down restaurants cost 2 dining credits. Part of having a travel agent help you is I can help figure out if you would be better off paying, quick service, or traditional dining plans. We can go over places to eat, expense, and what makes sense for you! This is meal is at the Boathouse. It is two credits so I picked one of the most expensive things on the menu and got an alcohol drink. Where this was delicious we decided when we go back we would pay outright next time as this is a place we like to snack on appetizers and split a meal.

Shoes! There is always the question, what shoes should I bring? That’s actually a very personal question and hard for me to tell you. However, our preference is a good comfortable walking/gym/tennis shoe! We walk between 20,000-30,000 steps most days. And even though they weren’t brand new I still got blisters. So a good blister bandaid and ointment is needed. We also got crocs and put them in the backpack! So glad we did as we got a lot of rain this time! We switched twice into our crocs. But you can also blister from the sliding and wet. So no real good answer other than maybe a few pair! And ponchos or rain jackets are a must! As you can see, we still got wet. But I would rather be wet at Disney than home! Lol!

Throw back Thursday! With the talks of Helene today at Disney let’s talk hurricanes while at Disney. We went two years ago and they shut down parks due to the hurricane while we were there. Now, Disney is inland so that’s good, however, rains and winds can still be strong. We were in Hollywood studios the day they announced things were closing. We had dinner and went back to our resort. That night they locked down. No one in or out of the resorts after a certain time. What does that mean? Well, we were lucky as we were at the Beach Club. We could walk from our room to the lobby, food options, and gift shop all inside. However if you were at a resort that had buildings you could not leave the building. Fortunately Disney made things easy. They released a lot of food options (sandwiches, boxed meals, breakfast meals) for an inexpensive price. We stocked up on a few options. And headed to our room. We kept the tv on all night and day. It was mostly weather with some mix of Friends. We were able to go to the lobby where they had games, music, even characters. They opened Cape May as a buffet but you needed to take it to your room or lobby lounge areas. The price was less but you only got one trip through. We felt very safe and very taken care of. We did buy Disney monopoly and Disney uno to pass the time. Now I always carry Disney uno and Phase 10 with in case we need it. They also had room blocks for castmembers. This way they stayed and were safe. Any specific questions let me know!
