Training Unlimited

Training Unlimited Provides an opportunity to comment on day care requirements in NYS, especially training. https:www.trainingfordaycare.com

This is the opportunity for any provider who has taken a workshop to comment about the experience, to ask questions about the topic or how to find out more information, and to connect with other providers. It is also a way for me to tune into the concerns in the provider community, enabling me to create workshops that meet your needs, not what I think you need.

Now that the fall weather has finally appeared, a few reminders.

Tender Heart needs your help to reduce the spread of illness in our daycare.
Please remember to follow these general rules:
Please keep your child home until he/she has gone a FULL 24 hours:
• without a temperature over 100 degrees
• without any vomiting
• without diarrhea
• after starting an antibiotic
• without red eyes with thick or crusty drainage

We rely heavily on parents’ good judgement about sending their children to care.
Please use your best judgement before sending your child to care with:
• A green runny nose: red and itchy/painful eyes
• A persistent cough
• A low grade fever (under 100 but above 99)
• Any persistent complaints that the child does not feel well
• A persistent sore throat
• An open sore that is red or draining

Please refer to handbook under illness for a full list.

Excellent information

Excellent information

Each year in the United States, there are more than 3,500 sleep-related infant deaths. Many of these are the result of unsafe practices. It is imperative as a child care provider to utilize safe sleep practices in program and share information about safe sleep with the families. Together, we can help prevent further tragedy.

Do You Know the ABCs of Safe Sleep?
It’s very simple, A = Alone, B = Back, C = Crib.
➢ Alone – babies are safest when they sleep alone in a safe crib right from the start. Sharing a sleeping space with an infant increases the risk of the infant becoming entrapped in bedding or smothered during the shifting that may occur during sleep.
➢ Back – babies should be placed on their backs in a safe crib. Babies who sleep on their stomachs run the risk of choking.
➢ Crib – babies should be placed in a safe crib that is free of soft objects or loose bedding that could entrap or smother a baby. Infants should not be put to sleep on waterbeds, sofas, chairs, car seats, or other unstable surfaces. Infants may suffocate if they become wedged between the cushions of a sofa, caught in the bed frame, or caught between the frame and the mattress or wall.

In child care programs, sleeping arrangements for infants through 12 months of age require that the infant be placed flat on their back to sleep unless medical information from a child’s health care provider is presented to the program by the parent that shows that arrangement is inappropriate for the child. Children may not sleep or nap in car seats, baby swings, strollers, infant seats or bouncy seats unless otherwise prescribed by a health care provider. Cribs, bassinets and other sleeping areas for infants through 12 months of age must include an appropriately sized fitted sheet, and must not have bumper pads, toys, stuff animals, blankets, pillows, wedges or infant positioners. Wedges or infant positioners will be permitted with medical documentation.
