Beautiful mountain landscape, pure air and abundance of sunlight, through dusty collective farm country where web-like wooden carts bump through barren fields.
The park entrance lies just above a large, manmade reservoir where you can swim and camp in the summer months (mosquito repellent is advised if you do the latter)

Central Asian desert's museum
Originally I.V. Savitsky was engaged in archaeological research and ethnography of Karakalpaks, later he became interested in the acquiring works of contemporary art, which were forbidden by existing political regime. Risking to be listed to the category of "public enemy", Savitsky collected forbidden works of the artists. The Savitsky Museum shelters the world’s second-largest collection of banned Soviet-era avant-garde art, located in a hard-to-find desert town – remote Nukus, capital of the autonomous republic of Karakalpakstan in western Uzbekistan

When I told people that I was going to Uzbekistan for 10 days, the reactions I got all shared a similar sentiment. “Why Uzbekistan?” “Where is that?” “I literally know nothing about that place.”

Truth is, I barely knew anything about this country either. But having been to many “popular” destinations in the past, I was thirsty to explore somewhere less-known; somewhere relatively untouched. As it turns out, Uzbekistan is actually not as hidden as I had thought — there were quite a lot of tourists — but it’s still one of the most underrated and breathtaking places I’ve ever visited.

How tourism in Uzbekistan has changed over the past two years?2 Part
When planning a trip, you should pay attention to seasonal and active recreation. It will be optimal to plan the trip so that the tour program includes visits to historical centers in Bukhara, Samarkand, Khiva and Tashkent, and after the cultural and educational part - visits to madrasas, mausoleums and museums, recover in nature, for example, in Bostanlyk district. These places are suitable for extreme sports and for families with children. Thus, the Amirsoy ski resort, which meets modern requirements and international standards of safety and service, will welcome its first guests from December 2019. Numerous mountain tracks of various levels of complexity are suitable for active leisure enthusiasts, and summer holidays for the whole family can be organized on the shore of the Charvak reservoir. Note that in 2018 some territories in the Kashkadarya region were opened for free to visit by tourists, such as the Amir Temur Cave, the Suffa radio astronomy complex, the Suvtushar waterfall, the picturesque high-mountain villages of Kul and Gilan, the Severtsev glacier. In addition, guests can diversify the rest of the balloon flights, overlooking the surrounding area and scenic views.
Since 2018, a calendar of events has been published on the website of the State Committee for Development of Tourism of Uzbekistan and this is an excellent opportunity for tourists to visit interesting events and fairs. During the year you can get to the colorful festival holidays - “Kovan Saili”, go to Surkhandarya to “Boysun Bahori” (Boysun Spring) or Bakhshi Art Festival, become spectators of the fascinating “Raks Sehri” (dance festival) or go. Thousands of travel lovers. A grand fair that accommodates in two pavilions of representatives of local and foreign travel agencies, stands of representatives of transport companies, artisans, hotels and much more. In addition, a gastronomic festival is held as part of the fair.
I It’s time to pack a suitcase and go to Uzbekistan to see everything with your own eyes.

How tourism in Uzbekistan has changed over the past two years?💡
1 Part
Can you imagine a country where representatives of different nationalities, traditions and culture are uniquely get along together? Which is unique!? A country where a rich historical and architectural heritage organically coexists with modern buildings, high technology, and the work of artisans create unique works of architecture. A country with high mountains, hot deserts, endless lakes, beautiful valleys and gardens.

You will be surprised to know that all this can be found in one country. And this country is Uzbekistan.
The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Development of Tourism for 2017-2018 has taken a number of measures to develop tourism infrastructure, simplify visa procedures and registration, and much more. But first things first.
The first thing you need to do when, you going to Uzbekistan is to get a visa. If your country is not included in the list for visa-free visits, then simply send the documents through the system. . It is worth noting the convenience of passing through customs points: when arriving in Uzbekistan, the relatively recent double corridors greatly facilitate the arrival of tourists to this sunny region.
You can stay in a hotel, hostel or yurt camp. A significant impetus for increasing the number of rooms has been the simplification of requirements for budget accommodation facilities. So, in Uzbekistan, a stop at family guest houses is becoming increasingly popular. They can be found in large cities and remote high-mountainous areas. Guest houses are not only a place for lodging for the night, but also a unique tourist attraction in which you can learn how to cook national dishes, learn about it and even learn the spoken Uzbek language. Another option would be to stop at friends or relatives, exactly like renting an apartment. In a word, the most comfortable conditions have been created for the tourist.

Cycling Uzbekistan

On a bicycle, you’ll find Uzbekistan’s people well versed in the tradition of hospitality towards visitors, welcoming you with big smiles and even invitations to spend the night. And since the terrain isn’t as rigourous as in Tajikistan or Kyrgyzstan, you’ll have plenty of time to linger over a tea or beer in the many cafes.

Urungach lakes🏞
Urungach lakes are situated just 160 km from the Tashkent. The lakes are located in the Ugam-Chatcal National Nature Park in rather hard to reach territory. Though being not that far from Tashkent it takes around 4-5 hours to reach the place as the condition of roads is just terrible. Ravines, boulders, talus, sometimes no road surface at all and steep ascents and descents force the transport to move at a speed not exceeding 20 km/h. This creates a feeling of even greater remoteness of the lakes.

After 5 hours of driving you will reach the place where the hiking part of the trip starts. There is a good path leading to the first lake. Lazily looping between the walnut plantations and the concrete aryk (with very clean and delicious water from Urungach Say) leads to a small plateau, from where it turns to the left and after passing through the small river gets you to the lower Urungach lake.

Skirting the thick trees, one can have a panoramic view over the beautiful jade-colored lake. The greenish-blue waters are inviting travelers to plunge into them. The water on the lower lake is very cold. The views are amazing, serenity is all around and bright beauty of the place just fascinates the view. The lakes were formed in a natural way after rocks collapse that created a natural dam. The level of the small lake varies greatly depending on the time of year. In the spring time the lakes are full and look brighter whilst after the hot summer they lose a lot of water and you will not recognize this same lake in the fall.

Influenced by diverse cultures that in the long history have been brought here by various nations conquering Central Asia, the national Uzbek cuisine has formed into a unique oriental cuisine.

The basic ingredients of Uzbek dishes are flour, meat (usually mutton), fat of a sheep’s tail, vegetables, herbs and spices, and, in almost all food, a considerable amount of oil of different sorts - that of cottonseed, sesame or sunflower, which make Uzbek food highly nourishing and rich in calories. Pork is never used in the Uzbek cuisine. Some of the Uzbek dishes are cooked only by men, while others exclusively by women. The cooking of some special dishes is connected with particular holidays and festivals, important events and beliefs.

Uzbekistan's signature dish is palov (also spelled pilaff, plov, pilau, pilav, polow, pulaw, pulao, osh), typically made with rice, meat, grated carrots, onions and special spices. 🌶

Herbs and spices, such as coriander, zira (zra, kumin), barberries, sesame, basil (raihon), and others, are special features of Uzbek food, some of them whetting your appetite, and others having curative effect. Katik (sour milk, classic yogurt, also spelled katyk, qatiq, qatyq) is also a common ingredient in Uzbek food, together with the summer radish, which is not so pungent as the black radish, and even sweet if cooked with carrot in oil.

Welcome to Uzbekistan, Central Asia's cultural cradle and home to an alluring array of architectural and historical treasures. The country also has a long and convoluted history of political turmoil. Let a friendly local guide take you on a private Uzbekistan tour to help you learn about the grand Uzbek traditions of art and culture, and the reality of modern life in this Muslim nation.

Take time to explore the cities of Bukhara and Khiva. The stunning blue and gold medressas of Samarkand's Registan may take your breath away. Spend a morning wandering with your guide through the market stalls, spilling over with local spices and pomegranates, in Tashkent's Chorsu Bazaar. Outside of the cities, your guide can help you access excellent hiking, rafting and (in winter) skiing in the Tyan-Shan mountains of Ugam-Chatkal National Park.

Your guide is happy to customize a private Uzbekistan tour that reflects your personal travel interests in this intriguing Asian nation.

Margilan Silk Factory

Margilan is situated in Fergana Valley on the intersection of ancient trade routes. The city was well known already in antiquity because it made the best silk in Central Asia, able to compete in quality and beauty with that of Chinese one. Caravans with Margilan silk tailed to Kashgar, Bagdad, Khorasan and even to Greece moving along the Silk Road.

Silk comes to Central Asia in the middle of the II millennium with the beginning of the Great Silk Road development. A legend has it that a Fergana’s ruler ordered his servants to learn secretly the silk weaving know-how from Chinese masters, and this caused a war to release between the two countries.

Uzbek khan-atlas is almost completely handmade. Almost over 4,000 years the Fergana masters managed to develop their own unique technique and technology of thread unweaving from a cocoon and yarn dying.
