In Venezuela as a former Spanish colony every town or city got a Plaza Mayor. A place of utmost significance because it marked the center of the town and the location of important government institutions. Simon Bolivar is one of the most important figures of the independence process so now such places are Plaza Bolivar to honour him. You can find one or even more and many places in the country and even in other countries around the world.

The Paseo Los Próceres (translatable into English as Walkway of the Heroes) is a monument located in the city of Caracas. The promenade is full of fountains, stairs, squares, roads and walls. Since 1993, the Paseo Los Próceres and the entire annex system was declared a National Historic Landmark.

Two big icons of Caracas, the Ávila mountain and the UCV clock tower. Also known as reloj de la UCV, is a monument made of prestressed concrete. It is located by the rectory plaza of the (300 years old) Central University of Venezuela in the university city of Caracas and was built between 1953 and 1954.
The tower was proposed by architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva as a joint piece built by the engineer Juan Otaola Paván, with both contributing to the design.
