Good morning from 38 deg 08 N / 067 deg 42 W

We have just crossed the GS headed to Belfast Maine for a ‘brief’ yard period at Front Street Shipyard before exploring Nova Scotia then heading South via Charleston to the Caribbean for the ‘24/‘25 season. We plan to make ABIDE available for a few term charters, including spectator charters for the Antigua race week, Heineken Regatta and St Barts Bucket. The website is near to complete, the owners launch ‘Adventure On Deck’ podcast today, and we expect to open the calendar soon. That being said, before we open the calendar, if there are any interested folks who follow us, that would be interested in early bookings now while we are in and around Nova Scotia or perhaps for NY ‘25 or week of Dec 25th, hit us up with a DM. We don’t have specific plans yet but are open to windward and/or leeward islands, before heading to the Med around late May.

Our Story

SC CALLISTA is a luxurious Lagoon 620 (E-Sense version) cruising catamaran offering the best in sailing innovation combined with luxurious accommodations and four social areas. Inside the spacious salon, find yourself surrounded by vertical windows offering 360-degree visibility and plenty of natural light. A large u-shaped lounge is the central social area and converts to an elegant space for formal indoor dining. The large galley has a convenient storage console that separates it from the salon. Open the large sliding doors and the living area flows outside to the spacious aft terrace. Here guests can relax under a large Bimini that shades a table and seating for eight or more. Up a spiral staircase from the main deck, the fly-bridge is a popular spot with guests. The helm is forward, surrounded by electric winches and all the necessary sail-control lines for the skipper. Aft, there are cushion-covered benches for sitting and lounging and a great sunbathing area, all separated from the sail maneuvers area. A canvas top helps protect everyone from the sun, including the huge fore deck area, whilst relaxing sprawled out in one of the designer bean bags taking in the breeze and magnificent uninterrupted view. Below deck, four staterooms accommodate eight guests in two queen cabins aft and two queen cabins forward. The two aft cabins both have direct access to the aft deck as well as to the salon and also have walk-around beds. All cabins have en-suite showers/toilets, excellent storage, hanging lockers and shelves.

On board you will find an extensive list of water toys to keep you entertained.

Captain Roland

Roland has been an avid and competitive boater since he was waist high. He began challenging the surf with the Sea Scouts and Dinghy Racing at school. He went on to earn a living in the corporate world, finally owning a dental service/supply business while pursuing his true passion for yachting. After selling his business, Roland obtained the requisite RYA Yacht Master OCEAN License, bid the corporate world farewell and launched his career as a Captain of the Sea. He has delivered yachts professionally, including numerous trans-Atlantic crossings. Roland knows exactly how to inspire guests to have the vacation of their lives aboard CALLISTA. He has been a Charter Captain on and off since 2005, initially aboard a Privilege 48 catamaran based in Antigua and sailing throughout the Caribbean. He enjoys sharing his many outdoor passions ( kite surfing, cycling, scuba diving, free diving and fishing) with eager guests. As a PADI Scuba Dive INSTRUCTOR/Rescue Diver with 1000's of dives, he knows how to deliver a premium experience showing off the wonders of life beneath the sea. His forte is exploring "off the grid", and to experience the authentic Caribbean. Chef Vanessa Vanessa embarked on a live aboard dive vacation in the Red Sea. The experience inspired her to abandon life in the culinary industry and set her course for new horizons. She spent many years in the restaurant industry in countries around the world, from South Africa to Central America to Europe. She successfully owned a coffee shop/eatery in the heart of prestigious London-Marylebone Lane, but gave it up to follow her passion for life at sea. Vanessa has always loved the art of cooking. Her Mother was her first inspiration, teaching her as a child to create dishes to please. Her family and friends were foodies. Everyone in her circle was keen on experimenting with new ideas and sharing recipes. Traveling the globe, she became adept at incorporating new ingredients and methods into her menus. Guests rave about her cooking, which is always fresh and innovative. She can also delight the palate of guests on restricted diets, such as vegan or gluten free. When not in the galley, she enjoys a range of high-energy sports, hiking, skiing, river rafting, kayaking and scuba diving, and enthusiastically shares tips and talents with her charter guests. Vanessa is a qualified PADI Dive Master, taught to lead dives in a commercial environment, so charter guests have the benefit of a Dive Master AND Instructor if they wish to scuba dive! Roland and Vanessa are charming hosts, vibrant, energetic, and with an unfailing sense of humor. Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, they met each other 20 + years ago and were married in February 2010. They have sailed throughout the Caribbean since 2004 and have many delightful stories to share. Charter CALLISTA with Roland and Vanessa as your host’s and you will easily understand why their list of repeat charter guests just keeps getting longer. Both are non-smokers.
