Dominica, one of the first islands to be hit by Maria

The world lost contact with the Dominica when hurricane Maria passed directly over the island on Tue 19th Sep. A long 24hrs later contact has been made.

Some of you may recall that myself and Mike visited Dominica earlier this year, it was covered in a lush versatile landscape with breathtaking sites like cascading waterfalls. Population is 70,000, size is 29 miles in length and 18 miles wide the highest mountain peak is 4,747 ft.

As like other Caribbean islands we experienced that same warm light hearted spirt and friendly manner form locals and are still in contact with a few friends we made who live their.

More so then in BVI I recall many homes/buildings being made from wood and the small town called Calibishi that we stayed is on the edge of the ocean with residents homes only feet from the sea. I mention this because each of the Caribbean islands are unique and want those who haven't had the chance to visit understand quite how each could be effected in different ways.

Im saddened to write that news slowly coming from Dominica is already painting a very sad story. Pray for the Caribbean.
Will update when more is confirmed.

GOOD NEWS Maria's track has gone slightly south.......

Feeling sick with worry for people facing Maria,

Where it says Frederiksted on the image is the US Virgin Island of St. Croix. It has a population on 50,000 is only 28 miles in length and 7 miles wide making it just over double the size of Tortola.
Its directly in Maria's path and has nothing to protect it or take the brunt of her full force.
I really don't know what to type now apart from that Im praying for them with every morsel.

Hurricane Maria forecasted path,

Hurricane Maria is said to pass south of the Virgin islands Wednesday into Thursday. On the map the British Virgin Islands is where the white dot with vertical line is (top, center left). Even if Maria's eye stays on this path (futher south of Irma's) BVI will be subject to wind speeds of 150mph and 14mm rain full. Hopefully all are prepeared, stay stronge all in Marias path

PEALSE share, Ways to Help people effected on the Islands

I have tried to compile a list of ways you can help NOW for each of the islands effected. If you have additional organizations that you think need to be shared, please add them in the comments below.

Please also share this with everyone that has ever been touched by these beautiful islands – even if it’s just through a screensaver.

Thank you for caring 💛🌴

Flash flooding happening on Tortola today.....

God protect the people of the BVI! The damage from hurricane Irma has left the islands so vulnerable that even a normal rainy day is dangerous. Pray for the BVI to stay safe. OneBVI!
