The British Virgin Islands (BVI) offer one of the most uniquely different holiday experience in the Caribbean. The small size of the islands making-up the BVI makes them unique and allow visitors and residents to get very personal with each other to interchange experiences, share passions and celebrate without feelings of alienation xeno-phobia. Each island has unique qualities that can be exploit
ed compatibly with the residents and the environment. Many visitors have used the various Islands for important life events and international tours. Beach weddings are the most common events planned. Recently a tour of world champion lawn tennis players experienced the beauty and unique opportunity of playing professional level tennis in beautiful sea-side facilities at Necker Islands. Various music artiste frequent our shores to trade their wares of different music genres- from Trinidad Soca, Jamaican Dance Hall to American Blues and Jazz professionals. All love the experience of performing on these beautiful islands. However there is a dearth of local personnel, who know these islands best to linking into the tourist events planned annually by the tourist board. Several annual Department of Tourism initiatives can be enhanced and monetized even more if other events are linked with it attracting foreign involvement beyond spectating. Some of these events can be enhanced by allowing/attracting foreign tourism to become part of the celebrations with unique activities planned around the events
Dragon Fruit Enterprises wants to provide leadership and entrepreneurship in this area. This will assist to grow our own expertise in events planning and since its home-grown, will drill-down into the economy of the many small communities on each of the islands where Department of Tourism have annual events and even create new events on islands where there are no regular events planned to enjoy the unique environment of these various islands. The name Dragon Fruit- comes from a little-known fruit that is indigenous to Virgin Gorda – where the owner was born and raised- and is an attempt to bring new and unique ideas and events forward for the mutual benefit of residents and the world –just as the unique-little-known fruit found in Virgin Gorda. All the events that can be planned will involve the members of each community of the event 100% so that they can be assured of regular and at least annual involvement in a BVI enterprise that they can take owner-ship of and feel a special connection to. This will provide support and commercial opportunity to small business already established in the different island communities.
