We were thrilled to sponsor a recent art contest held at The St. Croix Welcome Center, where creativity and passion truly took center stage! Over 20 talented artists came together to showcase their incredible work, making the event a vibrant celebration of local art.

A special congratulations to Eliana L. Schuster-Brown, whose stunning painting, "Freedom," earned her the $500, sponsored prize (Pictured below.) Her piece captivated everyone with its powerful expression and artistry.

The last day for voting is here! All artists who are participating have completed their recreation of the final scene from Shawshank Redemption which was famously filmed on St. Croix. We have enjoyed having all of the artwork up in the Welcome Center the last couple of weeks and are eager to announce the winner.

We will be open special hours 12-3pm to accommodate any last minute votes, so if you haven't had the chance to make it over to the Welcome Center and vote you definitely should, your vote could help an artist win!

The winner will be announced tomorrow November 4th at 1:30pm live at The Welcome Center, anyone is welcome to attend! We will also be doing a Facebook live stream for those who are unable to make it in person! Link will be posted around 1pm on Monday.

Exciting News, in-person voting for the Art Contest is now live! All artists who are participating have completed their recreation of the final scene from Shawshank Redemption which was famously filmed on St. Croix. We have enjoyed seeing the submissions come in over the last few weeks and we can't wait to share them with you.

Voting for the contest will take place in person at The St. Croix Welcome Center until November 3rd, so there is plenty of time to see all of the amazing artwork these artists have completed. Everyone is welcome to vote, if you are visiting from a cruise ship, or are a St. Croix local every vote counts.

We are thrilled to announce that we’re sponsoring a $250 third-place prize for the St. Croix Welcome Center Art Contest! Big thanks to the Welcome Center for organizing this amazing competition that celebrates both art and the beauty of St. Croix.

Artists have been challenged to recreate the iconic final scene from The Shawshank Redemption, famously filmed right here on the island. Submissions are rolling in, and we’re blown away by the talent already on display!

Big news! There will now be a $500 prize for the second place winner of our art contest, courtesy of Sandy Point Art Oasis! We are very excited to have them as a cosponsor of this event.

Sandy Point Art Oasis is a new destination opening soon between Dorsch Beach and Sandy Point in Frederiksted, with views of Sandy Point, famous for the final scene of The Shawshank Redemption.

They will combine art, sustainability, and community in an eco-friendly space designed with repurposed shipping containers serving as a boutique store and bar. They will be offering food and beverages to help customers enjoy a day at the beach.

The beach will remain open to the public, and they will help keep the beach area clean—protecting its natural beauty for everyone to enjoy.

They will also be a home for local art and creativity, showcasing the work of talented local artists through paintings, art sculpture displays, and more.

The St. Croix Welcome Center art contest is in full swing! Artists have been challenged to recreate the iconic final scene from The Shawshank Redemption, famously filmed right here on St. Croix. The St Croix Welcome Center art contest is well on its way, artists were tasked with recreating the final scene of Shawshank Redemption which was famously filmed on St. Croix. There will be in person voting starting on October 20th with the winner receiving a $2,500 grand Prize! We have started to receive a few submissions and are excited to see what all the artists have put together!
