50 Years of Exceptional Sailing
In 1965, Captain Heinz sailed across the Atlantic in a 30 foot trimaran. Viennese papers published a front page image of “two crazy Austrians sailing across the Atlantic in an unproven design.” It was then that Captian Heinz happened upon St. Croix (after mistaking the lights of the South Shore for Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas), and decided to stay. After discovering the beauty of Buck Island, he took the mission upon himself to share this gem with visitors from all over the world. Today, the family business operates with Captain Heinz or his son, Captain Carl, at the helm of Teroro II, a 42 foot, custom designed and built, trimaran. Captain Carl also operates a more intimate private charter aboard his 38 foot trimaran, Dragonfly. The beauty of snorkeling Buck Island is unsurpassed and the sailing skills these Captains illustrate are truly remarkable. Visting Buck Island aboard Teroro II or Dragonfly is a must-do for visitors and locals alike.
