For the last 3 years, we’ve donated a private day sail for the volunteer veterinarians to conclude their annual trip to St Croix! Passed our annual coastguard safety inspection and rigging inspection! And after 3 days of the north swell, the conditions have FINALLY calmed down enough for us to go out tonight!!!

Thank you Three Sheets on the Rocks for the spectacular image of Jolly Mon on her sunset sail!!

After a full day of photo edits, I finally wrapped up my shoot for the St. Croix Crucian Christmas Festival’s adult parade and I’ll pick out a sampling to share tomorrow.

By the time I finished, it was a little too late to make it to the beach before sunset, so when I saw streaks of color lighting the sky from my back porch, I launched the drone as quickly as I could. The sun dropped just as I launched, but by the time I reached a few hundred feet, the pinks and oranges grew brighter, reaching like outstretched fingers across the southwestern sky. Even the salt pond off Sandy Point glowed under its vibrant light. And the best part, for me anyway, is the tiny spec on the surface of the sea—Mike sailing Jolly Mon for Lyric Sails. He’s never far. 😊

⁉️ Some St. Croix Trivia: What country was this beach supposed to be set in at the end of the Shawshank Redemption? 🙋‍♀️

We’re glad it’s right here on St. Croix and we get to sail past it every day on our day sail and sunset sail! Bonus that it’s also a huge sea turtle nesting beach so we get to see tracks and spot turtles in the water offshore!
