Ma Pi Leng, or Ma Pi Leng, means "horse's nose bridge" in the H'Mong language, referring to the steepness and ruggedness of the mountains and steep roads like the bridge of a horse's nose.
The pass crosses the top of Ma Pi Leng mountain at an altitude of about 1,200m, in D**g Van Stone Plateau, Ha Giang province.
Previously, people could only walk, cross forests and climb mountains. Within 6 years (1959 - 1965), tens of thousands of young volunteers carved little by little, creating a 20km long "Happiness Road", of which the Ma Pi Leng pass section was opened in 11 months. .
Although this pass is not long, it is the most dangerous pass and is also considered the "king of Vietnamese passes".
Tu San Alley is known as the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia, with a cliff height of up to 800m, 1.7km long and nearly 1km deep, a unique wonder in the D**g Van stone plateau. This canyon is the product of miraculous creation millions of years ago, when this place was still submerged in the vast ocean. During the change of the Earth's crust, water receded and eroded, leaving behind this unique geological heritage until now.
