👕 Going to a hot and humid place in the tropics calls for light, natural fabrics like cotton and silk. Lightweight tank tops and T-shirts are good things to wear in Vietnam, as are light-colored khakis.

HOW TO GET TO SAPA ❓❓❓

✔️ By bus

🚒 There are daily bus departing Hanoi at 6:30am or 10:00pm. One way trip takes betwen 6 and 7:00 hours.

🚒 Traveling by bus is both fast and it goes direct to Sapa without stopping in Lao Cai as by train. If you take a private car ride, you can even reach Sapa in 5 hours.

🍲 CHA CA: THE BEST DISHES TO TRY 🍽

🍲 The dish consists of grilled fish with turmeric and dill and the best Cha Ca is traditionally made from Hemibagrus (a species of catfish). These days, however, due to the rareness of Hemibagrus, you’ll likely wind up eating Snakehead fish or Mudfish.

🍲 To make Cha Ca the fish is deboned, cut into pieces, and seasoned with turmeric and other spices. It is then wrapped in banana leaves and grilled over a charcoal fire. When the fish is brought out to you it is cooked a second time at your table in a skillet full of green onions and dill.

🍲 You’ll also be brought plates of vermicelli rice noodles, chili peppers, cilantro, peanuts, and a bowl of fish sauce. Once the Cha Ca is ready you’ll fill your bowl with the grilled fish, green onions, noodles, and top it with everything else. The wide array of flavors compliment each other perfectly! If there is a single dish that is considered the food of Hanoi it is Cha Ca and you should absolutely try it while you’re in the capital of Vietnam.

🍲 The original Cha Ca restaurant is Chả Cá Lã Vọng, but most people agree that the restaurant has become too popular for its own good. The result is higher prices, poor quality, and long wait times. Best to skip this Hanoi institution and get your Cha Ca fix elsewhere.

Covid19 update

As of April 19, Vietnam’s Ministry of Health confirmed a total of 268 cases of COVID-19 with no new cases reported in the past 72 hours. In addition, 201 of the affected patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals.

Two British tourists - the last COVID-19 patients of Hue (cases 30 and 31) were treated at branch 2 of Hue Central Hospital after 2 negative tests were completely cured and discharged.
Two patients were discharged after the hospital was Thua Thien - Hue Tourism Department taken to Sun & Sea resort (Thuan An town, H. Phu Vang).
The 31st COVID-19 patient in Vietnam is also a British tourist (male, 49 years old), traveling on flight VN0054. After coming to Vietnam, on 4.3, this tourist goes from Hanoi to Ha Long city (Quang Ninh province) and visits the bay by tourist boat.
A day later, tourists leave Ha Long to Hanoi to go to Da Nang and Hoi An (Quang Nam). The 31st patient sample was sent to Pasteur Hospital in Nha Trang, tested on March 30 by Quang Nam Center for Disease Control, tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, and then transferred to facility 2 of the Disease. Hue Central Hospital for treatment.
Female tourist (patient 30) shared emotionally before leaving the hospital: "On the day I received the positive news, I was shocked and scared, and also very sad because I could not go sightseeing. I have received very good care from Vietnam, I feel grateful for being cured. Leaving here, I will never forget this place."

SAPA TOUR 2 DAYS – 1 NIGHT
Tour Itinerary
Duration: 2 days 1 night (by bus from Hanoi).
Explore hill tribe cultures of Sapa mountainous area.
Day 1: Hanoi – Sapa – Lao Chai, Ta Van, Giang Ta Chai (L, D)

6.30-7.00am Pick up at your hotel (in the Old Quarter) or meet at our office and depart to Lao Cai (245km). It takes about 5 hours traveling the new highway to Lao Cai. The bus ride brings good chance to see beautiful scenery of the region along the way.
12.30. Arrive in Sapa. Relax and have lunch at the restaurant. Check in hotel.
Afternoon, start a 4 hour trek to visit Lao Chai – Ta Van and Giang Ta Chai village, exploring the local ethnic minorities life, admire the spectacular natural scenery with the terraced rice fields. Visit Sapa’s ancient rock formations with engraved images big and small, the unique patterns of the ancients, as well as admire the picturesque bridge to the clouds clear over the Muong Hoa stream.
Enjoy the dinner with local specialty and your choice of spending the night at a hotel or homestay with local family.

Day 2: Cat Cat Village – Hanoi (B, L)

Wake up and enjoy the fresh air and atmosphere of Sapa. Breakfast at hotel/homestay.
9:00am Exploring Cat Cat – Shin chai village of H’mong – a colonial French discovered area and a renowned resort to officials from the early twentieth century. Arriving to Cat Cat village, visitors will be visiting the Hydro-power station, the waterfall of Cat Cat village, as well as learning about the culture, customs and unique people here with traditional crafts such as weaving, carved silver, hand forged agricultural tools.
Car pick up and return to Sapa town. Enjoy lunch at local restaurant. Free time to walk around or shopping.
15:00: Begin your journey back to Hanoi. End the tour in Hanoi around 20.30.

The Buckwheat blossom

Terraced rice fields in Sapa were voted as one of seven most beautiful and impressive ones of Asia and the world by readers of the US’s magazine Travel and Leisure.

Rice terraces in Sapa are slopes claimed from nature for cultivation in hilly or mountainous areas. Due to the steep feature, fertile soil thanks to it was created by weathered granite rock and mountain cliffs often stock water, local ethnic minority people can grow rice and establish terraced rice fields, one after another, from the foot to nearly top of mountains.
