4 MAIN NORTH-SOUTH TRANSPORT ROUTES IN VIETNAM

National Highway 1A – Also known by various names such as the Thiên Lý Road, Cái Quan Road, Route 1, or the Trans-Vietnam Highway. Starting at Hữu Nghị Border Gate (Lạng Sơn Province), it traverses 31 provinces and cities, crosses 5 mountain passes, and ends at Năm Căn Town (Cà Mau). The total length is 2,482 km, designed with at least two lanes.

Ho Chi Minh Road – Beginning in Pác Bó, Cao Bằng Province, and ending at Đất Mũi, Cà Mau, this route passes through 28 provinces and cities. Currently under construction, it spans approximately 3,167 km. By 2030, some sections are expected to be upgraded to form part of the Western North-South Expressway, with a smaller scale than the Eastern branch.

Eastern North-South Expressway (CT.01) – Similar to National Highway 1A, the Eastern North-South Expressway starts in Lạng Sơn and ends in Cà Mau. With a total length of 2,063 km, it begins at the Hữu Nghị Border Gate (Lạng Sơn) and terminates at the ring road in Cà Mau City. The route is currently being expedited for full completion.

Vietnam Coastal Road – This is an under-construction route with a total length of approximately 3,041 km. It is the third North-South road route, following National Highway 1A and the Ho Chi Minh Road – Eastern North-South Expressway. Starting from Núi Đỏ Port, Mũi Ngọc, Bình Ngọc Commune, Móng Cái City, Quảng Ninh, it extends to Hà Tiên Border Gate, Kiên Giang, crossing all 28 coastal provinces and cities in Vietnam.

Hang Hong - Heaven’s Gate of Yen Son or Yen Son's God Eye Mountain is the name given by locals and tourists to this uniquely shaped limestone mountain. Characterized by towering cliffs and sharp peaks, this mountain is a striking feature of the Huu Lung area, shaped by intense geological processes over millions of years.

Hang Hong is a natural arch-like cave with a dome shape, stretching from one side of the mountain to the other. The dome stands over 60 meters high and is located approximately 80 meters above the ground. Situated in the Lan Luoi valley (a local term for valleys nestled between limestone ranges), Hang Hong is part of the Lang Son Geopark. Similar to the God Eye Mountain in Cao Bang, Hang Hong is essentially a dry, fossilized cave formed over 300 million years ago. Its current elevated position is a result of tectonic uplift during the Neogene period. The area features tower and cone-shaped limestone blocks interspersed with valleys.

Located just 2.5 kilometers off National Highway 1A, the cave can be accessed via the route leading from Cai Kinh to the Yen Son Commune People's Committee.
