It's not as famous as the Old Quarter, but has unique architecture and a range of food and drinks. There are also many yellow houses and Parisian-style streets. We had an amazing time last weekend when we welcomed the largest group ever! Nineteen students from Italy 🇮🇹, the US 🇺🇸, and the UK 🇬🇧 were here for a year-long internship at Vietnamese public schools. Despite the rain, we put on our raincoats and continued the tour. Quang and Yen led the tour, with Cong's helpful support. Everyone was able to taste some delicious Vietnamese food, like sticky rice, noodles, beef papaya salad, banh mi, bia hoi, and kem xoi for dessert. The students also learned about the country's history and some local secrets - they had some great questions and a really interesting discussion.

We hope they had a wonderful introduction to Hanoi, and now know where to find the best food in town. One of the students even asked Quang to buy them a scooter, and Quang happily accepted. We wish them the best of luck during their time here!

While hosting the "Hanoi not-to-go-alone areas" tour, we have had the pleasure of meeting many interesting people. One of my favorite individuals is a Vietnamese veteran who fought in the border war back in 1979. After returning home, he opened a beer shop to welcome his old veteran friends. He kept the beer prices low, at just 8,000 VND per glass, so that all of his friends could afford to enjoy it every day. If you walk by in the morning, you will see a group of old men sitting and drinking one or two glasses of local bia hoi. They laugh, talk, and share stories with each other. On the wall, he has hung a photo of his family, a photo of him and the soldiers holding the Vietnamese flag when he was very young in the army.

Today, we are introducing our friendliest host, Huyen

Huyen graduated from the Banking Academy but did not want an office job. Instead, she worked as a receptionist at a Honda store in Hanoi and enjoyed welcoming customers with her big smile. However, she dreamed of having a more flexible schedule to pursue her passion for travel. Huyen has traveled all over Vietnam, Singapore, and Thailand.

One day, she saw a job posting from OneTrip with local, which was hiring local guides with beautiful stories to share. She decided to give it a try and immediately fell in love with the job! Now, she can meet people from all over the world and help them discover the best of Hanoi, the city she loves. Last week, our team had a day to go on a research tour to the beautiful Ninh Binh. The weather was perfect with sunshine and a lovely breeze. We visited Trang An, Tam Coc, and B**h D**g pagoda.

Ninh Binh is just 2 hours away from Hanoi, making it the perfect destination for a one-day trip. It offers green nature, boat trips, rice fields, and hiking. As Quang is from a nearby hometown, we visited his family and joined them for dinner as well. Our team is working hard to design the best route, hoping to deliver the best experience to welcome guests from all over the world to discover Vietnam. tom

Our team is proud to have supported the Blue Dragon Children's Foundation. rescues and provides holistic support for homeless kids and victims of human trafficking in Vietnam.
In May, we received an email announcing an Emergency Appeal from Blue Dragon. While we wish we could have done more to help, we did our best to provide support. However, the summer season is typically slow for us in terms of running tours and services for international travelers. Despite this, we came up with the idea to run a charity food tour to raise additional funds for Blue Dragon. We believe it will be a perfect opportunity to connect with the community and share delicious food, while also giving back at the end of the day.

Typhoon TALIM is moving closer to the northern coast of Vietnam.

On July 17 at 4am, the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting reported a storm with winds of 103-117 km/h and gusts up to 166 km/h was 380 km east-southeast of China's Leizhou Peninsula. By July 18 at 4am, the storm would move mostly west-northwest with a speed of 15 km/h, possibly gaining strength. The storm would be about 210 km east-southeast of Mong Cai city in Quang Ninh province and 310 km east of Hai Phong city in Vietnam.

On July 17, the northern area of the East Sea, including the Hoang Sa territorial waters, experienced rain. Strong showers and thunderstorms occurred in the southern area of the Gulf of Tonkin, the middle and southern areas of the East Sea, including the Truong Sa territorial waters, and the sea from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to Kien Giang, and the Gulf of Thailand. The northern area of the Gulf of Tonkin had heavy rains in the afternoon and night of July 17, during which there was a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.

Last night, our team had an amazing SUMMER party. We enjoyed a lovely BBQ, shared stories, and reminisced about the experiences we had over the past 6 months. We shared fun stories and some tough days, but all of them are now great memories.

In the first half of 2023, we hosted over 500+ tours for more than 1,600+ guests from over 50+ countries around the world. We even welcomed our very first guests from Trinidad and Tobago and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

All team members are working hard to learn and practice in preparation for the upcoming busy season. We all hope to welcome more and more guests to Vietnam, the country that we love so much.

# Welcoming Our Newest Team Member, Kien!

We are excited to introduce our newest team member, Kien! Kien spent a few years studying high school in the US 🇺🇸 and four years studying architecture in Ireland 🇮🇪. He has returned to Hanoi 🇻🇳 and is passionate about showing guests from around the world the city he loves, along with its rich history and culture. After one and a half months of training, Kien is now ready to lead tours. He has already received three five-star reviews from guests and is becoming a superstar! When we asked Kien how hard it was to lead the tours, he said it was like taking a friend around town.

Today, we have a heartwarming story to share. Akshay, from India, recently joined our French Quarter Tour with our lovely local host, Mina. After the tour ended, Akshay realized that he had forgotten his camera bag somewhere during the tour. He was very worried, but Mina gave him a list of the places the tour had gone through.

Akshay returned to check the CCTV camera at the ice cream shop, but unfortunately, he still could not find it. Then, a kind Vietnamese woman found the camera and brought it to Akshay's hotel because she had found his hotel card. Akshay was overjoyed and felt very welcome with the hospitality of Vietnam.

Temperatures in Hanoi reached a scorching 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) in May, the highest temperature this summer and one of the hottest days in Hanoi's history. Our tours have slowed down due to the hot weather. We can only run tours in the morning and evening, as it is too hot at noon.

However, we are lucky to be able to spend more time gaining knowledge through training during the summer. Last Sunday, we celebrated our first two team members who reached a 100-review mark. We can't believe that they earned over 120 reviews in just five months!

Our newest member, Trang, is improving greatly. She has started showing the tourists the city with passion. One of the best news in May is that we are still receiving lots of support from guests who join the History Tour of Vietnam. As promised, we are proud to donate 500,000 VND to the Associate of Victims of Agent Orange and 2,000,000 VND to the Blue Dragon's Children Foundation.

In the coming week, we are planning to run a food tour around Hanoi Quarter to raise funds for Blue Dragon. We hope you have a great week ahead!
