Around 17 km from Ninh Binh city center, Van Long Nature Reserve is a famous destination apart from Trang An Tourism Complex and Tam Coc. Stretching over 7 communes of Gia Vien District, Van Long was created in 1960 but just officially became a nature reserve in 2001. The area is more renowned after being one of the filming locations of Kong: Skull Island (2016) and attracts millions of tourists per year.

As one of the largest inland wetlands in Northern Vietnam, Van Long Nature Reserve boasts rich biodiversity with around 722 flora species and 39 species and 19 families of fauna. Plus, about 100 bird species will certainly tempt all bird-watching lovers during the trip here.

Similar to Tam Coc or Trang An, Van Long Nature Reserve is charming thanks to the system of limestone mountains on the tranquil and super clear water. You can take a boat ride to discover caves and grottoes in which B**g Cave is among the most beautiful caves you should not miss. Other go-to caves must be Ca Cave, Rua Cave, and Chanh Cave.

Fullmoon Festival or Tet Trung Thu is among the traditional festivals in Vietnam. If you are traveling to Vietnam on the 15th day of August in the Lunar Calendar (September 10, 2022), you will have a chance to see and join many interesting traditional activities in Vietnam.

Tet Trung Thu is as vital as Tet Holiday in Vietnam because it is also a day for family reunions and showing gratefulness to ancestors. Moreover, the festival is an occasion for adults to present their kids with lovely gifts.

Before the festival, you may see people making lanterns and masks. Halong Bay is among the top destinations that travelers cannot miss when visiting Northern Vietnam in general and Hanoi capital in particular. Nowadays, there are plenty of tour operators offering bus services from Hanoi to Halong included in the cruise tours. However, if you want to travel on your own, the following tips should be in your notes before traveling.
- Bus is the most convenient way which costs only USD5-25/person/way depending on each type of bus and takes only 2.5-3 hours.
- Bus is available at different locations:

o From Noi Bai Airport: Co To Limousine, Minh Ha Limousine, etc.

- Railway is very cheap (USD3 – 4) but takes a long time (around 7 hours) from Hanoi to Halong (via Kep Railway Station).
- Travelers can go by train from Hanoi to Hai Phong (2.5 hours), then take a local bus/taxi to Halong (around 40km away).
- The most luxurious and fastest way to go from Hanoi to Halong is by seaplane. It takes only 60 minutes (45-minute transfer + 15-minute sightseeing) and costs around USD280 – 360/person/way.

𝑷𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒖𝒐𝒏 – 𝑷𝒉𝒐 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒕 "𝑷𝒉𝒐"

There is a variety of rice noodles in Vietnam which can be called by multiple Vietnamese names such as pho, my gao, bun, my chu, banh da,… Pho cuon is a variation of Pho but in a different shape. Instead of being sliced into small strings and enjoyed with chicken, beef, or pork broth, Pho Cuon is shaped square and flat and enjoyed with a separate sweet and sour dipping sauce. Beef is stir-fried with raw vegetables and rolled in pho cuon. You can add some noodle strings, cucumber, or fresh carrot to make the dish more diverse.

The most important part of the dish is the dipping sauce. Made from fish sauce, sugar, lemonade, and water, the sauce can be added with chili, garlic, coriander, or papaya to eaters' liking.

With the nice balance of meat and vegetable, Pho cuon becomes one of the favorite dishes of Vietnamese people in general and Northern locals in particular. Pho cuon can be enjoyed in any meal such as brunch, lunch, late afternoon, or dinner.

In fact, the very first water puppet shows were carried out on the rice fields which are filled with water after being harvested. Water puppet was initially a pastime game of villagers after hard-working times. Later, it was favored by royalty and became an entertaining activity for Vietnamese people until now.

Using movements of water puppets, the artists tell exciting stories and the message implied in each story. It can be the daily life stories of farmers in the rice fields or under the communal house. It can be the message to encourage good human characteristics or discourage bad habits. With only hidden bamboo sticks connected to the water puppets, the artist controls the puppet's movements flexibly and understandably so that the audience, whether native or not, can still understand the stories.
