On Wednesday, I introduce several specially products, famous places and more.
 
1) "Tomogashima Island"
"Tomogashima Island" is a generic name for four small uninhabited islands, locates between WAKAYAMA and Awajishima Island, Hyogo. Among them "Okinoshima Island" was used to be a military fortress facility from the Meiji Period to the time of World War II, the island. You can hike through the island. The coexistence of historic buildings and nature resemble the atmosphere of the movie of "Castle in the Sky" by Hayao Miyazaki, so many tourists visit recently.
 
2) "Shirarahama beach"
"Shirarahama beach" is popular beach in Kansai region. Smoothly white sandy beach and blue sea is like Hawaiian beach. In summer over 600, 000 people visit here and very crowded. Also here is the popular spot for dating. The sunset from the beach is awesome! Around "Shirarahama beach" there are many restaurants and souvenir shops.
 
3) "The Legend of Hashi-Gui-iwa" (Bridge Pillar Rocks)
This is the beautiful scenery sculpted naturally by sea waves. About 40 rocks are regularly arranged like a pile of a bridge at about 850 meters. Also the "Hashi-Gui-iwa" are famous for the fantastic rising sun behind the rocks. The views change with the angle of the sunshine, so you can see different scenes depending on the time you come.

On Tuesday, I introduce summary and characteristic about the prefecture.
 
Today, I introduce "WAKAYAMA".
WAKAYAMA is located in Kinki region.
"Kumano" is the spiritual heartland of Japan. And it is registered UNESCO World Heritage in 2004. For millennia the mountainous region of "The Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes" has been thought to be the mythical "holy ground where gods dwell." There are some courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced courses. Please by all means feel the mystical atmosphere.
 
"Wakayama Adventure World" is one of the large theme parks in Kansai region. You can be about 1400 heads of sea and land animals to see up close figure which live in pristine. Especially five giant pandas are living in Adventure World, and they are the largest family in Japan. In addition, there are zoo, aquarium, and amusement park, so you can enjoy it all day.
 
"Wakayama Marina City" is an amusement park where you can play at theme parks, buy souvenirs at the market, and can also fish. If you are tired of playing, you can relax in the natural hot springs where you can see the sea and at the hotel. And my recommend is the beautiful and sparkle illuminations at the night. It is held from 3rd November to 28th January, it is received a special award in this year's Japanese illumination ranking. Please enjoy it!

Today's Japanese food is "tsukemen".
 
Tsukemen is a noodle of style that eats with dipping noodles into the soup. It is a Japanese noodle dish mainly treated as a kind of "ramen".
 
Because noodles and soup are offered in separate containers, it is common to eat with dipping a favorite amount of noodles in soup.
The soup of "tsukemen" is more stronger seasoned compared with general "ramen". There are various kinds of ingredients used for soup, such as pig bones, chicken bones, seafood, and vegetables.
 
Also, Tsukemen is characteristic to taste of soup. So we often drink the soup after meal. It's very delicious!
Many "tsukemen" shops have special soup for thinning the soup and adjusting the taste.
You can enjoy drinking soup after meal by pouring the soup on tsukemen you finished eating. There are also cases where various seasonings are prepared, and it is preferable to drink soup with your favorite taste.

Today's Japanese word is "Nori" (Dried seaweed).
 
"Nori" is an algal generic name that it is said edible.
"Nori" is one of famous seafoods for Japanese people.
"Nori" as a food often uses "Ita-Noti" (paper Dried seaweed) dried in paper form.
"Nori" which does not dry is also called "Nama-Nori" (raw seaweed).
 
In Japan, as an ancient food, It was eating "Nama-Nori" and "Ita-Nori".
The end of the Heian era is called "Ama-Nori" (sweet seaweed), spreading as "Asakusa nori" which molded laver as board laver.
For example, it is an important material in Edo-mae Sushi etc..
 
Well, the Japanese word "Nori" originates from "nura" (meaning to slimy). "Nura" is a term that refers to algae that grows like moss on rocks and stones underwater.
However, it is a generic name of algae to be edible in a broad sense.
 
As for the kinds of "Nori", besides "Nama-nori" (raw seaweed), there are "Ita-Nori" (paper Dried seaweed) , "Kizami-nori" (cuted dreid seawood), "Ajitsume-nori" (seasoned seaweed) and the like.

On Wednesday, I introduce several specially products, famous places and more.
 
1) "Kasuga-Taisya"
"Kasuga-Taisya" is the most famous shrine in Japan. It is the inside of "Nara Park". "Kasuga-Taisha" is the total head office of "Kasuga Shrine", which has about 1, 000 in Japan. Inside a turf, many deer eat grass leisurely in many places. 90% of it are female, and 10% are male! If you touch it quietly it's all right. Of course you will be very liked by them, when you give a deer rice cracker (150 yen).
 
2) "Nara Park"
Nara Park extends across an area of 660 hectares. It is regarded as an historic site of unparalleled natural beauty, with magnificent trees and lush greenery. It encompasses major temples and shrines, including "Todaiji Temple", "Kohfukuji Temple" and "Kasuga-Taisha", as well as the cultural institutions of Nara National Museum. Also about 1, 200 deer inhabit inside this park, you can feed them. You should try it.
 
3) "Kakinoha sushi"
"Kakinoha sushi" is the local food in NARA or Wakayama. "Kakinoha sushi" is sushi cooked with vinegar rice with mackerel or salmon, wrapped in persimmon leaves and pressed. When you eating, will peel the persimmon leaves. It is said that persimmon leaves have a bactericidal effect, and it can be storage for about several days by wrapping. Please taste it!

On Tuesday, I introduce summary and characteristic about the prefecture.
 
Today, I introduce "NARA".
NARA is located at Kinki region.
"Todaiji Temple" is the famous temple in NARA, the world's largest wooden building. It was registered to the UNESCO World Heritege in 1998. Also "Todaiji Temple" is popular school trip spot of junior high school or high school in Japan. If you visit here, you may see group of school trip students in uniform. Inside of main hall, there is a big Buddha and we call it "Buddha of NARA".
 
"Nara Hotel" was established in 1909. "Nara Hotel" was built with a compromise between Japanese and European style. It was designed by "Kingo Tatsuno" and others. "Kingo Tatsuno" designed "Tokyo station" too. You can have the special tea "Tippy Golden Darjeeling Earl Grey" at a terrace seat in the tea room. The hotel guests and others can relax deeply by the warm service of all staffs.
 
"Mt. Yoshino" is a place famous for its cherry blossoms. About 30, 000 cherry blossoms attracts many people. Full blooms of them is from earlier to lately of April and about 20, 000 people per day visit here to see the beautiful cherry blossoms. Not only season of cherry blossom but also summer and autumn you can see the beautiful view.

We will introduce some events in December.
 
1) Reception of a New Year's card (From December 15
to December 25)
Japanese Post corporation begins an acceptance of a 2018's New Year's card.
 
2) "touji" (Winter solstice) (12/22)
In twenty-four seasonal datum points, 22nd.
"Touji" is In the Northern Hemisphere, the time of noon (from sunrise to sunset) is shortest in a year.
In Japan, we have a habit of eating pumpkins. and, we take a "Yuzu"(Japanese citron) bath.
 
3) Emperor's Birthday (12/23)
It is one of the national holidays of Japan. It is a day to celebrate a birthday of the present Emperor.
The date is December 23 (from 1989).
 
4) New Year's Eve (12/31)
It's the last day in this year.
We eat a special meal in family on that day, and celebrate the safety of one year.
Also we have a habit of eating "Toshi-Koshi soba" (New Year's Eve's buckwheat noodle).
 
December has many events.

[Today's Japanese word "Kin-tsugi"]
 
Today's Japanese word is "Kin-tsugi" (repairing pottery with Japanese lacquer mixed with gold, silver, etc.)
 
"Kin-tsugi" is one of the restoration techniques.
 
How do you repair it? I will briefly explain.
At first, adhere the broken parts of the ceramics that were cracked or missed by Japanese lacquer. Then decorate it with metal powder (such as gold) and finish it.
It is also called "Kin-tsukuroi".
 
Well, it is the history of "Kin-tsugi".
"Jomon era's pottery" which was restored pottery with Japanese lacquer has been found.
After the Muromachi era, artistic value has been found in "Kin-tsugi". It depends on the spread of the spirit of the "Sa-dou" (tea ceremony) which accepts the repaired pottery.
There are also "Kin-tsugi" pottery which are designated as cultural properties or prized as antiques, such as "Sekiraku-chawan" made by "Hon ami kouetsu" (Calligrapher of the Edo era).
 
There is the person to repair precious pottery in the present time, and to used for a long time.
There are also people who enjoy "Kin-tsugi" as art.
Therefore, there are also manufacturers of "Kin-tsugi", and culture school for "Kin-tsugi" .

Today's Japanese food is "Mont-Blanc".
Mont-Blanc is one of sweets known all over the world, but here we introduce Japanese unique Mont-Blanc.
 
Generally Mont-Blanc consists of these.
· Base made of meringue
· Brown chestnut cream
· Chestnut is put at the top
On the other hand, the following points differ from Mont-Blanc in Japan.
· Base made of castella
· Yellow chestnut cream
· Sweet cookie of chestnut is put at the top 
 
Recently, not only chestnuts but also many Mont Blanc using pumpkins, sweet potatoes and chocolate are seen.
Among them, Mont-Blanc using Matcha(green tea) boasts tremendous popularity from foreign tourists as well.
Since there are many variations in Mont-Blanc in Japan, you surely find your favorite.

On Wednesday, I introduce several specially products, famous places and more.
 
1) "Akashi Kaikyo Bridge"
"Akashi Kaikyo Bridge" is a suspension bridge between HYOGO and Awaji Island. And it goes to TOKUSHIMA pref. directly. It is the longest suspension bridge in the world with a length of 3911 meters! This is one of the automobile ways from "Honshu" to "Shikoku". You can across the bridge by the bus. In the "Awaji" Island, the specialty local gifts are various taste salt, olive and onions.
 
2) "Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum"
"Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum" is located in Takarazuka city. Tezuka Osamu is one of the most famous cartoonists in Japan, and "Astro boy" is his masterpiece. In this museum, you can enjoy and experience some exhibits related his manga. Also there is a small theater, so you can see the short animation movie. If you like Japanese manga or animation, you may love here, too.
 
3) "Akashi-yaki"
"Akashi-yaki" is a small round snack. It is local food in Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture. Local people refer to it simply as "tamagoyaki". The dumpling snack is made of an egg-rich batter and octopus. When we eat "Akashiyaki", we dipped it into "dashi" (thin fish broth). Please eat both "Akasiyaki" and "Takoyaki", and compere the difference!

On Tuesday, I introduce summary and characteristic about the prefecture.
 
Today, I introduce "HYOGO".
HYOGO is located in Kinki region.
 
The "Kitano Kobe Ijin-kan-gai" (foreigner's house street) is the sightseeing spot. The recommendations in there are the "Kazamidori-no-yakata" (hall of the weathercock) and the "Uroko-no-ie" (the house of scale). The garden of "Uroko-no-ie" is beautiful. These are called the representative of the "Ijin-kan" (foreigner's house). There are many souvenir shops and restaurants, because it is now a sightseeing spot.
 
"KOBE HARBORLAND" is the port town where tourist attractions of Kobe gather. There is the superb view point that can look at a port tower becoming the symbol. The concerto of the cruising ship is to be particularly recommended. In "KOBE HARBORLAND", many events are held every month. To see the events are recommended.
 
The Takarazuka Revue's members presently comprise five troupes; Flower, Moon, Snow, Star and Cosmos. Since the first performance in 1914, it is composed of only unmarried women who are graduates of Takarazuka music school. It is a very shining and popular stage so it is difficult to get a ticket. If you get a chance to watch the stage of Takaraduka, you should go!

"Youchi en"(Kindergarten)
"Hoiku en"(Nursery school)
"Shou gakkou"(Elementary school)
"Chuu gakkou"(Junior high school)
"Hou kou"(High school)

"Youchi en" and "Hoiku en" are not schools.

Today's Japanese food is temarizushi.
It is a kind of sushi, especially a dish popular with women.
It is small and round like a "temari"(palm-sized ball), so it is called "temarizushi".
 
How to make this is very easy.
Just put the ingredients on the rice mixed with vinegar, wrappe in lap and shape the shape, this will be completed. The ingredients are such as fish and shellfish.

"Tsuke-matsuge" is a type of make-up.
It is to attach artificial eyelashes to emphasize eyelashes.
