This 27-Year-Old Girl Is Disabled But She Uses Her Feet To Draw Optimistic Pictures With Hopes Of Supporting Her Mother In a remote mountainous area in Hue, Vietnam, a 27-year-old girl named Huynh Thi Thanh lives with her 67-year-old mother. Thanh has a severe disability, which has left her unable to move, perform regular activities independently, and has affected her speech. Her mother, despite her frailty, is her constant caregiver, tending to her daily needs. Thanh’s dream is to create art using her feet and sell it to support her mother with their daily expenses. Born with deformed limbs and a curled-up body, Thanh lies on the floor and uses her feet to grab crayons to create art. Her drawings are full of innocence, optimism, and vibrant colors, often depicting a happy family life that she has never experienced. Although creating art is a painful and challenging process for her due to her physical limitations, Thanh remains determined. When her mother asked her why she creates these pictures, Thanh responded that she wants to help her mother buy rice, repair their house, and more. Sometimes, her mother pretends that Thanh’s artwork sells for significant amounts of Vietnamese dong (VND) to motivate her daughter and spread happiness in their lives. Tragically, Thanh’s mother was unknowingly exposed to Agent Orange during her involvement in youth volunteer organizations, which led to the loss of one of Thanh’s siblings due to the associated disease.
