Mrs. Celeste: Hi Dominic, I have a question for you. After our extensive 21-day journey across Vietnam, I've come to realize that most tours focus primarily on showcasing the scenic landscapes and cultural highlights. However, they often miss taking us into the heart of the real local life and spirit of the country's culture. Why do you think this is the case? Are there any destinations where I can visit genuine local homes, gain a deep understanding of the local lifestyle, and have meaningful interactions with the residents? I'm really looking for an experience where I can truly immerse myself in their daily lives and understand their livelihoods. Your insights would be greatly appreciated.😍
Dominic: Mrs. Celeste, I understand your desire for a deeper, more authentic experience, which is why I highly recommend Pristine Kirin Island. This hidden gem in the Mekong Delta offers an unparalleled opportunity to truly immerse yourself in local life. You'll visit real homes, engage in meaningful conversations with the locals, and experience their sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle firsthand. It's the perfect destination to gain a genuine understanding of the local culture and spirit of the region.🙂

The Mekong River is one of the most awe-inspiring natural wonders in Southeast Asia. It spans over 4,900 kilometers across six countries and is the 12th longest river in the world. Known as the "Mother of Water" to locals, the Mekong River is the lifeblood of the region, providing water for drinking, irrigation, and transportation, as well as serving as a crucial habitat for a diverse array of wildlife.
The Mekong Delta is a region of incredible cultural richness, with a complex history and a unique blend of ethnic groups that have shaped its identity over the centuries. At its core, the Mekong Delta is a place of diversity and vibrancy, where different cultures, traditions, and ways of life come together to form a truly unique and fascinating whole.
One of the defining features of the Mekong Delta's cultural identity is its water-based way of life. The delta is crisscrossed by an extensive network of rivers and canals, which have shaped the way people live and work in the region. From floating markets and fishing villages to rice paddies and fruit orchards, the delta's waterways are at the heart of its cultural identity.
Another key element of the Mekong Delta's culture is its rich history, which has been shaped by centuries of foreign influence, from Chinese traders to Khmer conquerors and French colonizers. This has resulted in a diverse blend of traditions, beliefs, and customs, with influences from Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Christianity, among others.
Perhaps most of all, the Mekong Delta is defined by its people, who are known for their warm hospitality and strong sense of community. Despite the challenges of modern life, the people of the delta have managed to maintain their rich cultural heritage, passing down traditional practices and beliefs from one generation to the next.
Overall, the cultural identity of the Mekong Delta is a testament to the resilience and adaptability of the people who call this region home, and to the enduring power of culture to unite and inspire.

Oudong is located on the high ridge of Preah Reach Throap, about 22 miles (35 kilometers) north of Phnom Penh. After one of Phnom Penh's numerous periods of abandonment, it became the capital of Cambodia in 1618 and remained the royal stronghold until King Norodom restored Phnom Penh as the country's capital in 1865. It previously had hundreds of structures, including temples and royal stupas, but the majority of these were destroyed when Lon Nol ordered airstrikes against Khmer Rouge fighters stationed here in the early 1970s. A few monasteries and the tomb stupas of a handful of the final kings have remained. The feeling of being away from the bustle of the city is what is best.
