While in Savaii, we had a heartwarming encounter with newly weds and honeymooners Gosia Michalska from Poland and Jose Raul Gurumeta from Spain. We were on our way to the Salelologa wharf and saw them on the road side trying to catch a ride as all the buses they tried stopping did not stop for them. They were determined to continue walking to Salelologa from Lano. Without a second thought we stopped and offered them a ride. Our ride from Lano to Salelologa and from Mulifanua wharf to Elisa Hotel was full of exchanges of our lives experiences, families, cultural values to the greatness of Samoa as a destination.
With recent incidents of violence in our own backyard, our hearts were stirred with concern for the safety of our visitors. This encounter reaffirmed our belief in the power of compassion. It doesn't take much to extend a helping hand, to share a smile, to offer a ride. These small gestures weave a tapestry of warmth and create lasting friendships that echo far beyond the shores of Samoa. In these moments, we realized that the path to a safer Samoa starts with each of us. We have a choice, a responsibility, to craft a haven of security and kindness. By embracing the values that define us, by looking out for one another, we can mold Samoa into a beacon of hospitality and safety. A great reminder that kindness knows no boundaries. We can extend a hand to our visitors, a smile, a conversation, a helping hand. As we sow the seeds of compassion, we reap friendships that will blossom and attract travelers from all corners of the world.
In a world that sometimes feels divided, we can be the change to creating a better and safer Samoa. It begins with us, with our daily choices, with our shared kindness. So, let's make every interaction count. Let's be the reason a traveler's heart swells with gratitude for the hospitality they received on these shores.
Be kind, look out for one another, and let's craft a legacy of warmth that will resonate through time. This is the Samoa we choose to build β a haven where strangers become friends, and friendships become stories shared across the globe.
We wish our new friends Gosia & Jose a memorable stay in Samoa before returning home.
