Creative Agency Part of a Bigger Plan is an Amsterdam-based creative studio that creates and produces award-winning communications for international clients.

We take pride in crafting concepts and branding that incorporate the disciplines of graphic design, illustration, art and film direction. We have created numerous award-winning campaigns and films for international brands. From concept to ex*****on we remain totally focused on making sure everything goes according to plan – your plan. Our projects have won numerous awards, including a Grand Prix at Cannes, 3 D&AD awards (one of which was the coveted Yellow Pencil), The Dutch Design Awards esteemed Golden Eye, which celebrates the industry’s pursuit of excellence and is only awarded to work universally recognized as the ‘best of the best, and several ADCN lamps – on one memorable evening we took home seven. Christian Borstlap founded Part of a Bigger Plan in 2011. He is a critically acclaimed art director, designer, illustrator and film maker. He first made his name as an illustrator at Wallpaper* in the UK. His unique ability to translate complex concepts into engaging stories saw him rise quickly through the ranks at renowned agencies, including FHV/BBDO and KesselsKramer. Christian is a contributor to LVMH’s digital platform NOWNESS.

Sad to hear that Julius Vermeulen has passed away. Like for many Dutch designers, Julius played an indispensable role in the early days of the studio by assigning the design project for TNT Post’s children’s stamp. It marked a dream start.
Working with Julius was nothing more than a sheer pleasure. No matter what corporate threats we encountered along the way, Julius made you feel untouchable.
Julius, thank you for your cheerfulness, fighting spirit, your sharp perspective on things, and all the beauty you brought into the world. You will be missed.

Our Story

Amsterdam-based Part of a Bigger Plan offers advertising, concept development, digital communication, and art direction. We also design products, exhibitions, web experiences, video installations, books, print work, packaging, illustration, and we can pull together a pretty good Ottolenghi courgette pappardelle for lunch in a pinch too.

Our approach has worked for Louis Vuitton, Herman Miller, and Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum. We’re the proud owners of 8 D&AD pencils, a Grand prix Cannes, a grand Prix ADCN, many ADCN lamps, and we were proclaimed Best of Dutch Design (all categories). Our work has been exhibited in the Musée des Arts Decoratifs, the Louvre, The Metropolitan Museum in New York, The Amsterdam Rijksmuseum, and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.
