So what’re you reading? Ive been making these hand-finished lino-print bookmarks for when you get to curl up with a book. They have an old-fashioned, slightly gothic feel with their dark colours and distressed gold. Each one is a little bit different and would be lovely to give as a present - with or without a book. Ill be selling these and some hand-printed cards to raise funds for two charities next weekend at

‘The Gap’. I’ve had a couple of these small etchings of the nation’s favourite tree hand-framed in solid oak. One is a traditional black print, the other a deep mulberry pink. They fit very nicely into little corners, I must say. I’ll be taking these to the Artists’ & Makers’ Collective fair in Beaumaris on Dec 9 & 10th.

Bridges of Anglesey County… there’ve been so many short, intense sunsets-after-rain just recently. This was a quick scoot with the dog between the Telford Bridge and the Brittania Bridge on the Menai Straits just before dark

‘Ballerina Moon’ - all nicely framed up and ready for a friend. The association between fuchia flowers and dancing ballerina-feet seems quite widely known… Both the framer and his wife also knew it as a children’s game in different parts of the country

Feels good to be thinking, planning and carving lino again after a long break. These sweet Welsh Ponies from a local field printed up well on a smooth Japanese washi paper - a joy for printmaking. I’m aiming to make a series of nature-inspired prints for the Artists’& Makers’ Collective Fair in Beaumaris and other Xmassy pop-ups…

Deckle edge… (love the words) referring to the feathered edges of heavy art paper. In ye old days, paper was made on a deckle or wooden frame so these wonky edges happened as part of the process. I’m very happy with the clever framing of these etchings, in which the artwork is floated above the dark background to show off that deckle edge!

An extremely likeable exhibition in the leisure centre, Beaumaris by local artists this week. The lighting is difficult for photography but doesn’t detract from the actual viewing. Go see if you can!
