Bursa, often called "Yeşil Bursa" (Green Bursa) for its lush greenery, holds a cherished place in Ottoman history as the empire's first major capital (1335–1363). It was here that the foundation of one of the world's most powerful empires was laid, making it a living museum of Ottoman culture, art, and architecture.

The capture of Bursa in 1326 by Orhan Gazi, the son of the Ottoman Empire's founder Osman Gazi, marked a turning point in history. Bursa became the administrative and spiritual heart of the fledgling Ottoman state. The city's urban landscape was transformed with mosques, theological complexes, and markets, many of which still stand as testaments to its imperial legacy:

Ulu Cami (Grand Mosque): Commissioned by Sultan Bayezid I, this mosque exemplifies early Ottoman architectural brilliance, featuring 20 domes and exquisite calligraphy.
