RIP Jenny Stokes. It is with sadness that Jenny passed away on Dec. 14th. She will be remembered for her creativity and passion for running events for the Ontario and Canadian DanceSport Associations and was former editor of Dance Scene Magazine during the 1990's. We will always remember their assistance with Event Fundraising to go to the World's and as co-organizers of DanceSport for Charities with Barbara & Ron Wilson.

IN MEMORIAM: Jenny Alphonsina Stokes (Spectator, Dec. 17th, 2018)

Passed away peacefully weith her family at her side at St. Peter's Hospital, hamilton on Dec. 14, 2018. A beloved wife of David, mother of Annette Morgan (Brian), grandmother of Jennifer and Brian James (B.J.), grfeat-grandmother to Hiley, Arianna, Jaelynn and Peyton. Predeceased by her parents, Maria (Vantieghem) and Jozef Vanderbogaerde and her sister Lucrese (Gracer DeKind) of Chicago. She had many cousines, nieces, and nephews, especially her family in Belgium. She worked as the Supervisor of School Crossing Guards to her retirement and was previously employed by the TD bank for 25 years. She was also very involved udring her life with the Ontario Dancesport Association. Special thanks to the nurses and staff a Juravinski and St. Peter's Hospitals. Visitation at Smith's Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QWEW), Burlington (905 632-3333) on Monday, Dec. 17th from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesdya, Dec. 18th from 3-5 p.m. and 78-9 p.m. Visition at St. Elizabeth of Hungary (391 Rymal Road West, Hamilton) on Wednesday, Dec. 19th starting at 10 a.m. with Funeral Mass being celebrated at 11 a.m.

I want to grow old with joy. I want to live each day I have left with the serenity of whom understands a little bit more what they've never thought they would understand about life. Death doesn't scare me anymore. I believe I'll go where I'm supposed to go, from where in fact I've never left. I live each thing I should live in its own time, even the ones that make me suffer or cry, because I know that everything I attract is a part of who I am and who I want to be. I'm grateful for what I learn and I realized a long time ago that what's important isn't so much what I learn, but if I live according to what I learn. Age has been making me understand that I shouldn't demand anything from myself and just want to do my part before I leave. I became free through my choices and I want to live and celebrate my freedom until my last day. I don't know how to live any other way. I don't want to live any other way.

Quero envelhecer com alegria. Quero viver cada dia que me resta com a serenidade própria de quem compreende um pouco mais do que aquilo que alguma vez julgou vir a compreender sobre a vida. A morte já não me assusta. Acredito que vou para onde devo ir, de onde na verdade nunca deixei de estar. Vivo cada coisa que devo viver no seu próprio momento, mesmo aquelas que me fazem sofrer ou chorar, porque sei que tudo aquilo que atraio faz parte de quem sou e quero ser. Sou grato pelo que aprendo e entendi há muito que o importante não é tanto aquilo que aprendo, mas se vivo de acordo com aquilo que aprendo. A idade tem-me feito entender que não devo exigir nada de mim e querer apenas fazer a minha parte antes de partir. Tornei-me livre pelas minhas escolhas e quero viver e celebrar a minha liberdade até ao meu último dia. Não sei viver de outra maneira. Não quero viver de maneira diferente.

Overcoming challenge and/or fear of Dancing & Performing in front of an Audience! What's on YOUR Bucket List?

danceScape has been part of Burlington Downtown Street Fest at the Burlington Sound of Music Festival for 11 years (since 2006). We are pleased to once again be part of the 2016 Festival at the Performance Pod on Elgin at Brant Street (between Coffee Culture and Queen’s Head Pub).

danceScape and Gigs Entertainment Inc./ DJ Central Music Services Ltd. were located on Brant & Elgin St. Pod on Friday, June 17th and Saturday, June 18th with performances and lessons at 8:00 and 9:15 p.m. Thanks so much to Student Perfomers & Volunteers for making this year so memorable. It was wonderful to see current and alumni students coming to cheer their classmates!

PLEASE SHARE this incredible story about two First Nations women ... "Two women are protesting in Hamilton's Harbour until action is taken to clean our shores. Wendy Bush and Kristen Villebrum took to the water on a raft last night after more than two weeks of trying to find a means by which our shoreline could be cleaned and made safe. Significant amounts of biohazardous waste line the shores of the bay...upon inspecting we immediately found dozens of tampon applicators and a syringe within the first few feet of shoreline we inspected. This is not just trash that has been disposed of in the wrong place. This is the result of significant amounts of sewage being dumped directly into the bay...."
