Today is a good day!
From 4am this morning, a new simplified travel system came into force, which was extremely welcome.
The new system consists of a single red list & a rest of the world list.
Fully vaccinated travellers & eligible under 18’s from over 50 countries & territories have simpler, cheaper rules, with just a single post arrival test needed.
Later this month, fully vaccinated passengers with an approved vaccine returning to the uk (except from a red list country) will be able to replace a day 2 test, with a cheaper lateral flow test.
Hopefully later this week, more countries will be removed from the red list, opening up more availability & choice for the half term holiday & beyond.
Travel is thankfully getting a little simpler, and without the expensive/unnecessary tests it will become affordable for more families looking to get away.
The Canaries are literally full now for the half term weeks, but if your desperate to get away, please feel free to get in touch for some other great destinations for that well deserved break.
Planning now for Feb half term & Easter is highly recommended to secure your preferred accommodation at the best available fare.

Travelling at the moment does appear complicated, and it does pose the question of is it worth the hassle!
Hell yes, it most certainly is!
First up, make sure your passport is valid, an ideally with 6 months validity. Post brexit, any added months on your passport are now not valid, so calculate your expiry from the actual date of issue.
Ensure you have your NHS Covid passes available and ideally printed off as it saves so much time at the airport.
Ensure any PCR or antigen tests are within the time constraints of that particular country, ie some calculate by arrival time, and others by departure time, so don’t get caught out.
Ensure any passenger locater forms are completed prior to arrival, again within the given time, and printed off.
Covid travel insurance is a must !
Our check in procedure at Gatwick with EasyJet was fairly simple, but allow extra time at check in, due to the verification of paperwork.
Masks are mandatory onboard unless eating or drinking.
Arrival into Crete was quick & easy, passport control was seamless, plf checked and we were on our way.
@nanaprincesshotel arrange our pre departure antigen testing in our room, which is so helpful, and saves sourcing a local clinic, but there are testing providers that give you a test to take away and can be uploaded whilst your abroad.
We have booked Day 2 tests, so we have a unique reference number that needs to be uploaded 48 hours prior to travelling home.
Every country is different, so some protocols change slightly, but don’t be put off, I can help you navigate what seems to be a complicated process.

Allow international travel to return safely and in a risk managed way by properly implementing the Global Travel Taskforce’s plan for a traffic-light system, by expanding the Green list in line with the evidence and making restrictions more proportionate, whilst keeping a strong red list to guard against variants.
Bring forward a package of tailored financial support, including extension of furlough support, recognising that the travel sector’s ability to trade and generate income is much slower than first anticipated and more gradual than for businesses in the domestic economy.
With 15 months of no earnings, and having to repay commissions from bookings made in 2019 now is the time to stress to the government the plight of the travel industry.
