Prior to 14.11.1987, TNEB Engineers’ Sangam { Regd.No.124/ MDS ( Recognized)} and Engineering Diploma Holders Association (Regd.No.54/Tri) are the two organizations functioning in the TNEB for the welfare of the Diploma Engineers. Having realized the need for unification of the organizations , the leaders from both sides moved towards each others and merged the organizations at Trichy on 14.11

.1987 and started functioning in the name of TNEB.Engineers’ Sangam. When the trade unions are splitting into groups and disintegrating into pieces, the Diploma Engineers’ community in TNEB alone came forward for a merger, sinking the differences for the sake of the welfare of the Diploma Engineers . Initially Diploma Engineers are entered as Temporary casual labourer in the Board, creating permanent working condition from daily wages to time scale of pay, reservation of posts in RWE categories, studying Degree in Engineering(In part time), acquiring knowledge and promotion through the higher education, carving out a place for Diploma and Degree Engineers(Through internal selection), continuously improving and enhancing the service conditions for them are the prime importance of this organization. Multifaceted members, Technocrats ( Diploma, PG diploma, Degree, PG Degree) with various fields of studies like M.B.A and M.phil in Personnel Management, Financial management, Human Resource, Human Rights, Industrial Relations , Public Administration, etc are common in this organization. Primarily they are working at the cutting edge of the TNEB, boosting the standards and Quality of supply by their rich experience in the field and implementing the welfare measures of the Governments of the State and the central and reaching the public in time. It is a pride for this organization to say that the Diploma Engineers entered as TCL equipped and enhanced themselves to become the officers of Class I service and holding the posts of Executive Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Chief Engineers, etc., by the determined actions of this sangam. The constant struggle for the survival keeps the organization young, energetic and dynamic to meet any situation at any time. The gifted features of the Engineers’ Sangam are :
Ø Dedicated leaders.
Ø Sincere and faithful members.
Ø Transparent functioning.
Ø Participative and collective decision making system.
Ø Democratic annual election of office bearers at all levels.
Ø Creation of second and subsequent level of office bearers.

Ø Social bonding between members and sangam unlike contractual or commercial bonding.
Ø Successful implementation of welfare scheme called “ Kamadenu Benevolent Fund “ to protect the families of members.

Ø Registered and recognized trade union with negotiating power with the Board and having good negotiating skills.

🌺 TRIBUTES TO SANGAM's Mahakavi 🌺

We all know about the great poet Mahakavi Bharathi who was not only a poet but an Activist of Indian Independence and Social Reformer.

Sangam too boasted a Poet cm Activist of such calibre who penned and spoke about the plight of Diploma Community in the Board, inspiring the community and fought aggressively for its upliftment.

Beloved Er. M.S.Arasan fondly addressed as மு.சு.அரசன் former Joint Secretary of EDHA was that legendary poet who passed away yesterday / 25.07.22 due to illness.

A native of erstwhile South Arcot District had worked in various places at Thanjavur, Nagai, Pudukkottai and Moyar including his hometown.

Basically a Diploma Holder, Legendary Stalwart graduated from Alagappa University when he had a chance while working at Pudukkottai circle and retired as an Assistant Executive Engineer from Board's Service. A vibrant leader had admirers throughout the State who were inspired by his poetry and oration.

Those days there wasn't any recognition for the Diploma Community in the Board hence EDHA had to be aggressive akin to a militant organisation to wrest the rights for its members and community in getting promotions, wages and much more.

Beloved Stalwart was a forefather in that aspect leaving a mark in handling issues by his astute thinking, aggressive and shrewd representation yet nonchalant attitude once accomplished.

His oration drew large crowds among the community and has vivid followers for his poems even today. His welcome letter to the new recruits of our community is treasured by many even today.

Legendary Stalwart was the architect behind the formation of Thanjavur Branch and did a lot of work in that circle undeterred even when physically assaulted by other unions. Safeguarding the rights of the Diploma Community was his sole vision.

Numerous punishments due to Union activities led to missing many Promotions which he took sportingly.

Sir took up the responsibility of publishing "Why" (then magazine of EDHA) when need arouse for shifting the publication from Nellai during the year 1984 even though it could be done for a short period only.

His electrifying welcome address to welcome then respected Chairman Thiru. B.Vijayaraghavan I.A.S. during the meeting organised at Villupuram for KBF's 1st benevolent disbursement and a vibrant speech delivered at Headquarters on 03.04.1995 agitation would remain in the history forever.

Post retirement too Legendary Stalwart has been actively in touch with our activities. Officially he had participated in the Bhoomi Pooja of Sangam Building at Villupuram in 2015 and the 50th Annual General Council Meeting at Kodaikanal in 2016.

Despite his ill health he had planned to attend the Golden Jubilee GB Meeting of Thanjavur Branch last May but dropped it after his Physician's advice.

Acceding to our Sangam's call Legendary Stalwart had contributed a mammoth amount of ₹ 30K towards KBF Special Donation few months ago, which speaks volumes of his care, affection and affinity towards our community and our Sangam.

It's very sad to lose such a Legendary Stalwart of our Sangam who has been part and parcel of our Sangam activities for more than 5 decades. Yet it's a consolation that Sir has left a legacy for us filled with followers, preachings, writings etc.

Sir's vision, thought and hard work is unparalleled and all these things left for this community and our Sangam is a priceless asset.

Rest in Peace Respected Sir, 🌺
You will remain in our heart and soul forever.....

🔏 President / TNEBES.
