Asian Open Regatta 2019 - Sunday 27th October

Becalmed... The theme for most of day two, however we managed to complete one geometric race for all divisions, and Open Division One managed to complete the Around Islands Race (drifting through the finish line😏)...

Thank you very much to all the volunteers, our Race Officers Brenda Davies, and Bonnie Cheng, Safety Officer Kevin Lewis, and everyone that assisted over the weekend!

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

Asian Open Regatta 2019 - Saturday 26th October

What an awesome weekend we had at the LBC Asian Open Regatta 2019! Lots of sun, good wind, great company, and good food!

22nd September Championship Series racing - complete! Autumn has arrived, and so has the wind! We were lucky to get 12kts with gusts up to 18kts in the first race, and slowly dropping down to 8-12kts by the time race 3 was complete!
As usual, James Branch took some great photos! Take a look at the results, and enjoy the photos!

Looking good!! Our new medals courtesy of Blood Red Clothing!

These medals will be awarded for the top three places in the two divisions, and and also for our junior sailors at the Championship Series 2019 final in November!!

For 2019 LBC Sailing has made training a priority for members of all different experience levels, and today we invited Isamu Sakai from North Sails HK to our club where we would delve into the black magic of sail & rig tuning... We certainly learned a lot of vital information, and gained a deeper understanding of our boats overall! Thank you Isamu!

Race Day 4 in our Championship Series - done! A South Westerly wind of 9 - 10kts increased to around 14kts, spoiling us with flat seas, and great wind for some exciting action on the course! The first round of discards have taken effect, and as a result there has been some overall position swapping taking place! There are still 4 more race days before the series ends for 2019, so get involved to secure a spot in the overall standings!

Championship Series Race Day 3 saw light and shifty winds, but the around island course kept everyone interested with position swapping happening throughout the race! Check out the great photos courtesy of John Macrae! Results are included, and remember - discards will take effect in just three more races, so get involved at the next race day!

Day one of our new Championship Series - complete! Slightly overcast skies, but a fairly steady 12 - 15kt breeze were perfect conditions to see some action, and big smiles all around!
Thank you to all the volunteers that make these events happen - we couldn't hold events like this without you!

Training day #2 done!
Some discussion around the race course, and some rules were the flavour of this session, followed by a triangle practice race course to hone our skills before the start, and around the course!

Thanks again to our volunteers for your hard work, and also to our members for giving it your all!

We had a fantastic day covering a few training items both in the ‘classroom’ and on the water today!
The day started with some practical discussion, and was followed by boat handling on the water, with a tasty bbq and a few refreshing beers afterward!

Our next training event is Saturday 2nd March - we look forward to seeing you then!

We had a great boat maintenance day today, with 8 boats receiving a tune up by our team of experts! The weather was a little chilly, but the BBQ and a few drinks kept everyone warm and happy!

We look forward to our first training day on the 24th Feb with a short ‘classroom’ session, and a on-water practical training element! Again, a BBQ is included for all members!

The Varuna Cup was hosted by our friends at Royal Varuna Yacht Club in Pattaya this past weekend... Fantastic people, sailing, and a beautiful club made for a perfect weekend away, with LBC taking 1st in the multihull non-spinnaker fleet, and 1st, & 2nd in the multihull spinnaker fleet! Pook did a great job of organising pretty much everything - we were very well looked after - thank you!!
We’re looking forward to the next Varuna Cup in 2019!
