In 2012, newterra GmbH was created when Weise Water Systems GmbH was renamed; this move sealed the complete takeover of the company by the newterra group. The development of the MicroClear® filter, protected by patents throughout Europe, which began with the first model in 1997, has been continuously driven forward ever since. A great number of theses have been written and collaborative projects carried out with the University of Applied Sciences in Giessen / Friedberg, to test the filter in the most diverse of applications and under all possible operating conditions. Contribution to the Puratreat Project
The MicroClear® filter has also successfully demonstrated its effectiveness in the Puratreat Project, which was funded by the EU. In countless industrial applications supporting up to 50,000 persons and in decentralized facilities, the MicroClear® filter has consistently proven since then that even with a minimal use of chemicals and energy, germ-free, clean service water can be produced, suitable for a variety of applications. The outstanding innovation inherent in the MicroClear® system was highlighted by the award of the Environmental Prize of the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy in 2002. In the years that followed, sales increased continuously. By 2012 the old site had finally become too cramped, so the company moved into a modern building on a neighbouring property that will meet planned production increases for the next few years. Independent OEM
newterra GmbH in Germany is an independent supplier of the submerged MicroClear® membrane cassette module. We are therefore an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) supplying system manufacturers and end users alike. Good, Sound Advice
However, due to our many years of experience with MBR (membrane bioreactor) applications, we are far more than simply a component supplier. Our success and that of our customers can only be guaranteed if the MicroClear® filter is deployed in an environment that matches the capabilities of a membrane system. We ensure that this is the case by intensively consulting with our customers - from basic planning and the design of membrane tanks and filtrate outlets to energy optimization and maintenance plans. We provide support during commissioning as well as later during normal operation, when the filters need to be cleaned. End customers are first given detailed advice on how their particular problem can be solved. Only when the use of a membrane system appears to be economically feasible will we propose that a pilot plant using our rental equipment be installed, to eliminate all of the technical uncertainties as far as possible.
