I will need the address for where your derby will be held. I will also need at least 2 men to help unload and reload the track into my truck, and to help during the event. Please see below for a short description of our track and what your group can do to help to make sure your pine

wood derby event is fun for everyone and runs smoothly and on time. I will set up and run the track with the help of two volunteers. Prior to the start of the race, I will give a brief explanation about the track to help get the boys excited, and then we start the race. To help the event say on time, please follow the guidelines below.

1. Please have the cars weighed in and a car number on each car for each participant. Attached is an excel file that will beed to be filled out with the following information. This will help us be prepared ahead of time:

Participant Name (Last, First)
Car Number (The number can be any number the owner would like, as long as there are no repeated numbers)
Group (pack number)
Sub-Group (den)
Please email the attached excel file to me 1 to 2 days prior your event. If this list is not filled out and sent prior to your derby, please expect a 30-45 min. delay in the start time. Please only fill out the fields requested above.

2. Track:

There are four lanes, and we run each car on all four lanes and then total the average time for each car. The track is timed based. Sometimes we have tie finishes all the way down to the last race, and then someone wins.

3. We have a page called Derby “n” Desert where I post information about events, pictures, announcements, etc. Parents and den leaders are allowed to post as well. From time to time I also post secrets and tips on building a better car on the discussion board.

4. We accept contributions to benefit future pinewood derby boys. The suggested donation in the amount of $100.00 per event can be made by either cash or check (if paying by check, please make the check out to Carl VanHoose). We look forward to helping make your Pinewood Derby a success.
